Default Yamaha Receiver + PS3 slim bitstream Question

Hi All,

So a few months back I bought a nice Yamaha RX-V665 Receiver and have been very pleased so far. A little while after I got my receiver I got a PS3 slim so I could bitstream audio to my receiver. However, lately on the display on the receiver it will keep switching between the lossless audio format and the lossy audio format. I was watching Monsters Inc two nights ago and it keeps going in between DTS MSTR HD and DTS-EX Matrix or whichever the lossy one below it was. I know the PS3 warns me that some audio might not be available bistreaming but I was wondering is this normal? There is no change in audio quality that I can tell when it's switching back and forth, so I guess it's just a preference thing that I'd like the display my lossless audio all the time. Has anyone else experienced this? I've also done a hard reset on the ps3 and set the audio back up and it fixed for a little while but it came back. I've also even tried unchecking all the lossly formats when setting up the ps3 audio and it still didn't help. Any suggestions?

check connections (hdmi) between ps3 and yammy. You can also try switching the hdmi out on the yammy. switch the cable from the dvd out to possibly the others dtv/cbl? i think it is

Have you updated to firmware 3.10? I know there were handshake issues with a few receivers, Pioneer, Denon, and I think Marantz, and this sounds like a handshake issue to me. It that doesn't work, try switching cables like jstutman said.

just watch Monster Inc...i have a RXV1800 and had zero issues with the audio...it was not flashing any other audio than DTS HDMA. i am on 3.10 update.........i've never experienced any handshake issues though. not with gladiator or anything else.
