I have to agree that it was a bit hyped and because of that, it was a bit of a letdown. still, it was on the creepy side, had several hair-raise-on-the-back-of-your-neck moments and really played to the audience WAITING for the big scare and used that anticipation to create much more tension and dread in people's minds. I give it credit for doing that and relying on psychological terror in normal situations instead of splatter and gore.(this is a major strike against this film for that whole Saw/Hostel crowd paying to see this film or buying it.) Was a bit disappointed with the similar Blair Witch type ending since Spielberg supposedly suggested it. makes me want to see what the original was like. needless to say, I'm still on the fence for buying this. Have to wait and see what the reviews are like.

i watched the alternate ending of this movie and thought it was very scary and i watch a lot of horror films...this type of movie is much more scary to me than the slasher type of horror movies are...

also thought this was much better than blair witch although i can see the comparisons...

Wow..

I can't believe how many people are saying they didnt enjoy this movie.

I honestly believe this was the most effective and terrifying horror film I have seen in years (i have seen ALOT of horror movies). The movie is genious because it actually exploits what scares people the most... what they cant see. The pacing is brilliant, the actors do a good job at making you feel for them and hate them (the husband is a total dumbass).

Sadly it seems people are still blinded the never ending torture porn train and completely dismiss a great movie when it hits them.

Wow that is early but I guess it's due to the film being a limited release. Can't wait to snag a copy, this movie seriously freaked me out!

Great movie but would only probably be good for one repeat viewing for me, so I'll probably hold off buying it.

well, UP was something ridiculous like $41.99 when it went up for pre-order and it dropped down to $19.99.

So help me understand - why would anyone preorder a movie at this price? Is it that they are worried that there won't be many copies? What is the incentive? I am looking forward to this movie on blu too, but there is no way in hell I will preorder until I know what everyone else will be charging for it and what exclusives may be available at release. I got burned on preorders where the price dropped shortly after it shipped or a B&M selling it for less with exclusives.

If they sell 285 of these Blurays, they'll make back their entire production cost

I really didn't like this movie.. Just a heads up to anyone looking to blind buy it. The $15,000 budget shows A LOT!

MSRP of $48.99 Koo-koo. They beat Disney with that one.

Those who can't appreciate this film really can't appreciate cinema at all. A $15,000 production budget that doesn't use any CGI whatsoever in any shots. It's all a matter of movie trickery which that shows A LOT! Not to mention how engaging it was from start to finish.

Paranormal activity is not a movie. It only goes to show how homogenized entertainment has been for so long that a particular group are just hungry for something else.

Also, Paranormal activity is a true miracle. Without a doubt. I for one am glad it has earned what it has and can only hope that it may change things for the better.

I'm interested to see what advantages the blu version has over the DVD since its not like the movie was made with anything that would use much of the capabilities of the media.
