Default Fixing a Damaged SteelBook

I was just wondering if anyone has had success fixing a dented steel. If so, how did you remove the dents and what kind of damage was it. I just received a coupled dented SBs and am looking to repair instead of replace.
Thanks!

Thats kinda easy, remove the metal front or back from the plastic, than you can use a hard plastic (like a lineal or a plastic spoon) to pull out the dented things from the Alu. Have done this with Call of Duty hardend Edition Steeli, and worked perfect!

I've used the same technique twice with good results, although I didn't remove the metal, I just used the blunt instrument against the plastic with the metal face on a flat solid surface.

Well, mine went from minor but noticeable, to only noticeable while looking at the right angle, in the right lighting. It's not an absolute fix to regain mint status, but it appeases the latent perfectionist in me.

I've tried to fix dents before with taking off the casing and it seems to work OK, but it won't put it back to mint status. Especially if you have dents in the corners, those are almost impossible to fix

Some guy (I can't remember who) told us he waxed his steels and the surface scratches disapeared. He said the SB looked even better then before. I never tried but I've heard this on this site a while ago.

PDR's work wonders, but I think it's kind of crazy to ask them.

Don't just use any car wax, as some old fashion car waxes will have abrasives that will scratch the surface since the paint does not have a clear coat I believe. I detail cars on the side, but I don't detail steelbooks. LOL!

BTW, if you guys want to get rid of finger prints or make the SB more shiny without worrying about a wax that "might" harm the finish.. I would recommend a Quick Detail Spray. It's a cleaner used on a car's paint finish to remove finger prints, small amount of dust, and add gloss to the finish with NO abrasives.

It will make your SB finish slick and the dust will fly off. Gee...sounds like I'm on the car detailing forum.

Lemon Pledge and Mop N Glow might restore that "new-steelbook" shine.

I need to try that. My T2 Hd DVD steel has a dent on the front, lower right side. It bothers me so much!

Is it easy to remove the steel from the plastic, im afarid I might ruin it

Thanks for the tip!

Yes it is, you have to start from the corner next to the spin, not the corner on the side where you open it!
