Paramount is owned by Viacom, the worst scum of the earth when it comes to public benefits. Viacom is only after the green anything is is dead beat on their book. I remember a while back their contract with Dish Network was up, and they wanted to raised the price by ALOT. The CEO or Dish Network told them no way, and said fine. Well Dish Network lost Viacom channels for a few days, after Viacom cave in into the price Dish Network was willing to pay.

P.S. Dish Network did pay more for the new contract, just not what Viacom wanted. Alot of the package was stupid channels too.

I had a thought....

Transformers has a running time of 144 minutes, right? Now, considering the space and bitrate limitations of HD-DUD, a movie of this length with (from what I understand) LOADS of HDi features... won't this movie on "that" format be even more bit-starved than normal? One has to wonder if the HD-DUD version wont look significantly better than the DVD upconverted on my PS3?

Don't mind me, btw. Just trying to justify purchasing this movie on the 16th on SD-DVD (no way in hell would I purchase HD-DUD), as I really did enjoy this movie more than most last summer. What can I say, I'm a sucker for spectacle. Especially when Peter Cullen is the voice of that spectacle. I promise to make up for this P/DW SD-DVD purchase with a simultaneous pick up of at least 3 Blu-Rays.

Here is the bright side of Transformers no being on blu-ray. By the time they do release it on BD, they HOPEFULLY will not pull what Warner did with 300. That is, take the HD-DVD file and simply convert it for BD.

Heck, maybe by then new firmware MIGHT give our players ability to read a triple or quad layer disc. Yeah, I know that is not supposed to be possible. But you never know flexible how the hardware is until the right software runs it.
