Eyesight, the transfer, encoding, size of your screen, quality, tuning, resolution, how far you're sitting, how much alcohol you've had .

All plays a part.

The bigger your screen gets, the more of a difference it will make and the future's certainly getting bigger.

Watch a BLU only company like a new Fox title and you won't feel the same anymore..... Companies that are neutral have to make it fit on HD DVD first and then give us the same port not taking advantage of what BLU can do..... Try a FOX, Sony or Disney title..... Then you'll see the difference

Might I inquire which HD DVD 15 title you compared that was put on a BD50 has well?

I don't recall hearing of a BD that had 35G of extras.

I have yet to see any HD DVD. but it's about the same. I've seen the comparison in picture somewhere in this forum. BD is sharper. (and that picture was from AVS)

So you've seen the same movie presented on a 50gb disc and a 15gb disc from the same source, using the same video codec? That's awesome! Where can I do such a thing? By the way, which HD-DVD player do you have? Is it one that actually does 1080/24p?

Some of the Blu-ray exclusives from Fox and Disney look awesome. But Paramount titles dont look as good.

In short a 50gb blu-ray will be able to store better video (higher Mbps), along with uncompressed audio, along with hi-def special features. All on one disc!

The bigger the screen the more BD will shine. I know not everyone has a huge screen but that's how it is. Im not sure there's a film out there that can be really compare since ussually films on the same released use the exact same encode bit by bit. So BD advantage is wasted.

Default 15gb

Troll for sure. A 15gb disc is not even double the capacity of a dual layer regular dvd. What movie are you talking about?? NOt gonna be much room on a 15gb hddvd for audio or anything else if they put the video at a decent bitrate.

I beg to differ about paramount. the warriors and untouchables looked great. that's what separate transfers can do. they used avc for blu and vc-1 for hd dvd. using the best to optimise each formats bitrates and storage capacities. that is until $150 mill changed their minds.

I bet that 15GB title didn't have a LOSSLESS soundtrack either.

He forgot to add that he just didn't even bother listening to the soundtrack...
