Default Pioneer Pro 111FD findings?

Just bought a sony 46XBR9 and decided i rather have a PIONEER ELITE KURO 111FD instead but i've googled that tv and every link u click on, every store, when u call them, doesn't have it. I know they aren't made anymore but i figured SOMEWHERE in all of these United STATES SOMEWHERE, at least 1 STATE, would still have some in stock. I'd even buy a used one if the price was right. Anyone know by Chance where i might get one of these? Google, ebay, amazon, craigslist, none of them have working links. Thanks

I'm not sure whether or not they'll have some KUROs in stock, but ValueElectronics is a pretty reputable dealer. A few members on here have purchased their panels from them.

You have a better chance on finding the Pioneer PRO-151FD then a PRO-111FD. The PRO-151FD is exactly the same quality and features except it is 60 inches (Also WxHxD and pounds are more). Same exact picture and sound quality.

If you can find one! It is worth it. I went from a XBR5 to the 111fd and it is night and day. The 111fd rocks!!! I got it @ Best Buy in Kentucky

HI thanks, yes i know they are the same BUT the issue is a 60" is waY too big for my little nyc studio apartment. My place is HOOKED UP to the max with top of the line stuff BUT even that 50 inch 111fd is a bit big for my place BUT i still want it lol....it has to be the 111fd, if i had more space then i would get the 151 as i've found that one already but it's huge. Right now my 46xbr9 i just bought is an upgrade from my 40" samsung 650 and it's pretty big already. I would have gotten a 40" 111fd if they had it.

MAN i'm dying to take back this xbr9 and even willing to sell off all my surround sound stuff or whatever it takes just to get that 111fd. I am starting think it is not to be found N E WHERE in the USA lol...that's crazy.

The PRO-111FD list price use to be $5,000. At one time one could pick them up at Best Buy in the middle of Summer 2009 for only around $2,500. This Summer most stores ran out of stock on that model. If you cannot find the Elite PRO-111FD you might be able to locate the higher quality Elite Signature series PRO-101FD. The 50 inch PRO-101FD list price use to be $5,500 plus $200 for the KRP-TS02 Table Top Stand. Once and a while you can find the PRO-101FD online for slightly under $2,500. It is slightly better quality then the PRO-111FD since it supports PAL and SECAM, has hand inspected key parts for the best quality, more picture controls including BLUE only mode, and is only 2.5 inches thick. The only issue is the PRO-101FD monitor is not for the average consumer. It has no audio section or speakers to keep cost lower. Requires a surround sound system to hear audio. It also does not come with a table top stand (Stand can be purchased from Pioneer directly for $99 clearance price). Also there are no tuners. You need to use an external HD cable box,HD satellite receiver, or external ATSC tuner to watch TV.

I'm not sure why you're dead set on the 111FD when a 500M can be had easily enough. Robert from Value Electronics even sells them with ISF modes enabled and calibrated by D-Nice himself. It doesn't get any better than these panels. There's tons of info about these pdps over at the AVS board. They sport the 10th generation panel and are constructed with the exact same quality parts as the the 101FD. He even offers optional speaker bundles if needed. I'm not trying to push the 500M on you, I just don't see why you're so desperate to get a 111FD, that you would sell your audio gear when a better panel can be had for probably cheaper.

Even taking that Sony back and getting a Panasonic V10 would be big upgrade from that LCD. I would even get the Panny S1 for all that. Either way, good luck on your quest.

I've never herad of a pioneer 500M, I want the 111fd because cnets reviews state it's best even til now. I haven't heard any reviews of any plasma that is around 50 inches that is better than the 111fd. They say 111fd is the best, that's why i want it that badly, where does it say a pioneer 500m or a panasonic v10 is better. Pannys are not better than pioneers, or at least thats' what i read......

He is saying the Panny is better then the Sony. The 101 and the KRP 500M are better then the 111FD. The 101 and 500M have the 10th gen panel and are the only Pioneer sets that share this quality. Get a 500M, just remember it's a monitor only no speakers.

Yeah, you should probably take c-net reviews with a grain of salt. They are constantly editing stuff because they get their facts twisted quite often. Go over to AVS and learn a little bit about these panels and you'll see what I'm talking about. I wouldn't wait much longer as the 500Ms are going to jump in price as soon as the dealers start getting low on stock (which alot have even sold out).

I've spent countless hours checking out TV's in stores and researching online, and believe me it does not get better than the KRP-500M and the 101FD at the moment. Both of these sets produce deeper blacks then any other TV's available including all other Pioneer models. Color accuracy is nearly perfect out of the box too. Don't waste your time and energy looking for the 111FD. It like all of the other 9th Gen Kuros are excellent, but the 101FD and the KRP-500M are even better. Get one while you can!

Hey thanks everyone for the advice, i will take it. I'm gg to look into replacing the xbr9 with the KRP500M But u guys say it's not a tv it's a MONITOR...what's the difference? I always thought monitors were specifically designed for tv use and tvs were designed more for home use.

Also, u said this is a 10TH Gen PANEL but look at the specs i found here of it:

Specifications

TV type: Plasma
Diagonal screen size: 50 inch
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Additional features:
+ 9th-generation Kuro panel
+ Optimum mode auto A/V optimization
+ ISF C3 calibration
+ 1080p24 input-ready
+ Kuro Link (HDMI-CEC)
+ dual HDMI terminals

As u can see from the page specs, it's saying it's a 9th GEN panel, not 10TH gen which would be the same as the 111fd or the 151 no?

I've always bought xbrs and samsung lcds so i've never bought a plasma cause i was always afraid since i play a lot of ps3 and ps1 games and watch a lot of movies that i would eventually get stuck with some kind of burn in even though sets are better made nowadays but u can still get burn in playing games and watching dvd's if u leave them on pause long enough and i was told playing a lot of rpgs is what causes burn in because of the life bars, things like that. I want to make sure i'm doing the right thing so keep all the great advice coming, well appreciated

Default Pioneer 111FD VS Pioneer KRP-500M

I have bought both the Pioneer 111FD (Best Buy $2,500.00) and also the Pioneer KRP-500M (Value Electronics $1,800.00 plus Stand 3 day shipping). The Pioneer KRP-500M has the best blacks of all flat screens right now and color accuracy almost 98% perfect!!!!

I was wondering why this set is so cheap. Now i see, it has no speakers, Not even a TV STAND? How can u not come with a tv stand? That's retarded. PLUS it has NO TV TUNERS? That is crazy, i don't have paid cable. I NEED tv's to have a QAM, HD, TV tuners because i run a regular live line from the wall and that is how i get my over the air channels. If this tv does not have a QAM/tv tuners, i would have to pay monthly for cable service. One big reason why i buy xbrs is because they all have QAM tuners on top of the tv tuners. How can i get around this without having to pay a monthly service?

Also, I saw value electronics, which was recommended to me here, they want 2000 bucks, but other places have it up to 200-250 dollars cheaper? Is the 2000 because this D NICE guy calibrates it on his own without u telling him and that extra cash is his personal charge to calibrate it? Or a can i not calibrate it myself like i do with the xbrs by getting a calibration setting from one of u or someone on a/v forum?

I'm holding off to see what u guys tell me as i value ALL ur advice, thanks

WHen was this? It's 2000 right now and it says nothing about a stand or 3 day shipping....did u have to negotiate this?

D-Nice is the Pioneer and Panasonic guru over at AVSforum. Very knowledgeable on all things plasma and calibration (but doesn't reflect his name a lot on the forum -can be a bit short and nasty if you get him going...). He has calibrated some 500m's pre-sale (but remember good calibration also needs info of room conditions and HD material.
