This is going to be sweeeeeeeeeet & most likely.....ultra-violent.

"Mel Gibson will direct and Leonardo DiCaprio will star in a Viking culture-themed untitled period drama for GK Films and Icon Films reports Variety.

Kingdom of Heaven and The Departed scribe William Monahan pens the script though plot details are being kept under wraps. The project will mark Gibson's next directorial effort, but DiCaprio is expected to squeeze in a film before this one.

Gibson, Tim Headington and Graham King will produce. Filming kicks off next Fall."

I tend to enjoy most Viking-themed movies but I just don't see Leo as a Viking. He's just so small... Now Ron Pearlman would make a great Viking.

i know. his acting has steadily improved, but sometimes you can tell when he is forcing the role on himself. danny archer in Blood Diamond is an example. i was cringing for the first five minutes of that south african accent...but i gotta say in the end he pulled it off somehow. i just hope gibson doesnt get too ambitious with him here.

He (Ron Perlman) played a Viking role in Outlander and you're right, he was perfect for it.

Does anyone know what happened to his Native American project? He came to my hometown in Lawton, Oklahoma to study some Native American culture or something, but I don't think I've heard any word on the film yet.

Have not read anything about that. The "Viking" production is something to be excited about.

They have such great potential and I trust Mel Gibson to pull it off correctly. I have grown to appreciate DiCaprio in his more recent films and he could do well. I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.

I'm always down for a Mel Gibson movie, either acting or directing. Not sure what part Leo will play in this film, but I can't wait for this. It sounds awesome!

I don't understand this. Why is such a dainty boy always playing burly-man roles? That aside, the Vikings offer a potentially ass-kicking movie. There's a rich history there that could be exploited for a really good movie.

Egad no. Gibson did fairly well with it in Braveheart, but the absurd "love triangles" in Gladiator and Enemy at the Gates ruined those movies.

Well at least Mel is behind the camera because he is alot smaller than DeCaprio. At least Leo is 6 feet tall....Mel Gibson is 5 9" in heels.
