I'm looking for a receiver that supports 120hz 24 fps just in case I buy a TV that supports 120hz 24 fps video in the future. I was considering the Pioneer VSX-519. Does anyone here have a TV and blu-ray player that is 120hz 24 fps connected to this receiver and does it output 120hz 24 fps for blu-rays?

the lowest model pioneer that will pass 24p fps is the 919. the 120hz only has to do with the TV, not the receiver. TVs need 120 hz processing so that they can reproduce the 24 fps. Otherwise if they are a 60hz tv they have to use 3:2 pulldown to properly render the 24 fps. Most Sony HDTVs will have 24p processing as a standard feature,... even on the 60hz tvs I believe.

ANY recevier that is HDMI 1.3 compatable will transmit 1080p/24 ( this includes ALL Pioneer receivers equipped with HDMI, as well as ALL other manufacturers ). And, ANY 1080p HDTV will display a 1080p picture, though it must have a native resolution of a mulitple of 24Hz ( 96, 120, 240 ) in order for it to display a true 1080p/24 picture. Otherwise, it will use the 3:2 pulldown feature and diplay the picture at 60Hz. Of course, any 1080p HDTV will display 1080p/60Hz picture normally. As for the Sony HDTVs - the same applies to them. Only the 120Hz and 240Hz models will display a true 1080p/24 picture.

I've narrowed it down to the Pioneer VSX-1019 since I know that it does officially support 24 fps or the Sony STR-DH800. I will be using a pair of Polk M30's and my 100 watt Yamaha subwoofer for a 2.1 sound system. It must be fast in switching audio decoding formats, for example no more than 1 second delay in sound from switching from PCM to DD HD. It must not have a 60hz hum while turned on. It must have a reliable HDMI switcher with no degradation in image quality. I'll be connecting an Xbox 360, Sony N460 blu-ray player, and maybe early next year a PS3 and don't want to experience any HDMI handshake issues with those devices when connecting to a receiver's HDMI ports.

either would be fine, but the Sony Dn1000 is about $299 and would be even better... you can try that one on Newegg.com. Video processing always gets great reviews on the sony receivers. but for video passthru I don't you would have an issue either way.
