Default Star Trek (2009)

Just finished watching this movie and wow was I fooled!! I always told myself back when it dropped on blu-ray that I wouldnt buy it as I am not a Star Trek fan. However with all the great reviews and responses on this website I decided to blind buy this movie this weekend. Boy did I not like this film. I dont know if it still because I am not into Star Trek in general or was it that this movie simply wasnt good but over hyped?? I watched the whole film but I didnt enjoy one bit and now wondering why everyone says this is a great film?? I know from now on to stick to my guns as for the most part I have had great success with blind buys on movies I was already interested. But I let the overwelming hype for this one get me to make a bad decision and purchase this film. This may be off subject but G.I. Joe was way better than Star Trek in my eyes. Yes 2 diff films but both somewhat similar as for the ships, action and sci-fi feel to them. Oh well u live and u learn! Got Em!!

It's not a great film! In fact it's Star Trek turned into trash....good call on a bad film! Let just dumb it down as much as we can....imho of course.

Movies are always a subjective thing so a person who knows their likes and dislikes rather well usually should stick to their guns. At the very least rent it first. That was an early lesson when I first began buying DVDs.

Well this isnt about right and wrong just giving my take and review of the film is all! Man I never rent but maybe I should start. I think if I just stick to my guns and weighs reviews with what I already think I will be fine as I was. On a side note I did find the Wizards of Oz for 19 dollars and was pretty happy about that! Got Em!!

Yea make the characters teenagers, and add the 2000's lingo and flair and spice up the spaceship to look like a cadillac of spaceships lol. I did love Zoe in this doe. Hot!!! Got Em!!

I found GI Joe incredibly bland... while Trek had me on the edge of my seat and wanting more!! I found the story interesting and the inclusion of Prime Spock was a great touch. I have seen films 1,2,3,4,6,8,11... I LOVED 1,2,4,11 and would rank em

so while I really enjoyed it I do not feel it is the best of the series but it has never looked better visually.. this is easily one of my favorite BDs

I enjoyed G.I. Joe for the prime slice of goofy that it was, but Star Trek is certainly the better film. No contest. Star Trek managed to resurrect and strip down a franchise that crumbled under its own weight, reminding us why we liked the optimistic and adventurous spirit of the franchise in the first place.

Exactly my thoughts. G.I. Joe was cornball fun. But Star Trek was awesome sauce.

The best thing pretty much ever to come out of the Star Trek franchise.

If like me, you consider the Original Star Trek Series a huge snoozefest, this will redeem all that.

I admit that I was largely disappointed in it, though I liked it just enough to purchase the Blu-ray(probably being that I am such a big Sc-fi fan).

I am looking forward to what the sequels bring and there better be a whole lot more Uhura in them.

To each their own.

I loathe the original Star Trek series. The movies that followed were good thought.
