Default Digital Audio Output setting on LCD HDTV?

What should I set this on? I have RAW, PCM and off... Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, but I could never find it. Thanks.

I didn't find anything. Btw: I only us an HDMI cable and PS3. I don't use any other cable or even a receiver. Can somebody tell me what I need to set this on? Or better tell me what this setting is all about? I can't find the answer on my own anywhere. Thank you, and sorry if I waste somebody's precious time...

I think you answered your own question. It is for connecting the audio on your TV to a receiver. In essence, everything runs to your TV, then one output cable would run to the receiver. That way, whatever you're watching on the TV will be sent to the receiver. But if my memory serves me correctly, it is only capable of 2.0 audio, or at best lossy digital 5.1. Most people who play their audio through receivers these days will run the signal directly from the device to the receiver and then to the TV.

In any event, that setting doesn't mean a thing to you so you can set it to off.

I actually wondered that myself, but you just confirmed it for me. Thanks for clearing that up.

No problem. Your first post left me with more questions than answers, but you summed it all up in your second post. If you ever add a receiver into the mix, check back here for the best ways to hook it up - I recommend not using the Digital Audio out on the back of the TV.
