The Martial Arts Blu-ray Release Thread

I want the Venom films and Eight Diagram Pole Fighter. It's my favorite Shaw film.

Yeah, Five Deadly Venoms is one of my absolute favorites. The DVD is so great.

Can someone compile a list of all Region A Martial Arts blu-rays that have been released? I didn't know that a couple of these were even out. And maybe a complete list of the ones that are scheduled, too?

I need to figure out a way to keep this organized in my head. If I know what ones are definitively scheduled, I can start pre-ordering them.

I think I have most martial arts movie released on Blu-ray. These are what I would consider Martial arts films in a very loose sense. All the films listed play on region A Blu-ray players and are English friendly. Country code following the movie are where the Blu-ray was released. I generally use DDDHouse for HK releases and Amazon (com, co.jp, co.uk, fr, de, ca) for other regions.

I forgot about Hard Gun. It's supposed to be horrible. I would not include Universal Soldier in this list. I'm equivocal about Blade. If I look at it like the Matrix, they belong, but if I look at them like the Underworld series, they don't belong. Sin City and 300 also come to mind as films that have some martial arts element, but not really martial arts films.

It is probably the worst BR in existence.
As a Jaa fan, I blind-bought it, watched it once and shelved it.

I noticed you didn't have Fist Of Legend on your list. Is the German blu-ray definitely region-locked? If so, I'm worried the upcoming UK release will be as well.

I've read that it's locked. Plus, from what I've read, the transfer is horrible too. Same goes with other Jet Li films that were released a while back in Germany. I believe it's Once Upon a Time in China and America and My Father is a Hero (which is Jet Li ist The Hero). Plus, the audio tracks listed sound bad, supposedly 1 channel audio tracks. F**kin' YIKES!

I've got Deadly Duo coming. I spent $10 on it back around Christmas when Best Buy had it's pre-order dirt cheap.

I personally feel that a lot of martial arts movies are not going to make it on Blu-ray since a lot of the cheap bargin bin DVDs look horrible. I think DVD is the final step for some films.

Yeah, I have bunch of others that are either region locked or don't have English subtitles that I didn't list here. The poster I was responding to specified blu-rays that play on region A players.

With Dragon Dynasty starting to release some, well two, BR titles, it is a possiblilty

Anyways, whenever it comes out they need to release Twin Warriors (Tai ji Zhang San Feng) at the same time. That one seems to be often overlooked, but it's another very good Jet Li + Siu-hou Chin flick.
