I see that Star Trek Season 1 was out of stock for a while on Amazon and now has been more expense than before since it came back in stock. It was $59.99 for a long time and now has been stuck at $74.99 for a while.
Anyone have any insight into this? The frustrating thing is I own Seasons 2 and 3, but looking for season 1. You can buy all 3 for $170, which is avg of only $57. But again I'm only looking for the first season. I see an Ebay seller has it for $59.99 but it's the Canadian release (has English/French) - it won't match the US releases I have for seasons 2 & 3. ![]() |

Believe me, it's NOT that expensive by comparison to other similar products. When it was initially released on DVD and later, HD-DVD, it cost as much as they went for the three-season box set now.
TV show seasons on Blu-Ray are never cheap, and believe it or not, this is one of the BETTER Blu-Ray season set deals around. |

That is something of a trick they will use sometime after the first release. The first season is higher price and the following season cheaper. You get tempted to buy season 2 and on cause they are cheaper but they want you to pay more for the first season. Not the first time I've seen this for TV series. It wil ldrop in price, not soon but it will be patient

Season 2 and 3 are fantastic and worth the $50-60 I paid for them. Season 1 will be the same it's just that I saw that $59.99 carrot and hate to pay $15 more. I will try to be patient, but don't want to wait too long and miss the slipcover for continuity.

Waiting for the 1st season to come out on Blu-ray drove me crazy. That said, it is FANTASTIC and worth even the new price if you truely are a Star Trek (TOS) fan. Maybe you will get lucky and they will reduce the price when the next Star Trek film comes out (I think 2011ish) but counting on that is iffy at best.
Wait for a Holiday sale, prices usually are better. |

My advice is to wait until Amazon has another sci fi or Star Trek store sale. They run these every 2-4 months. |

I don't think it will hit $35 for a while. My main concern is losing the slipcover as my seasons 2 and 3 have it and I need consistency in my collection. |

35 bucks for season 1 on blu ray ??? You cant even get the standard remastered, original trek seasons from amazon usa for that price !!! Heck, youll be lucky if it even reaches 50 dollars at amazon. I got tired of waiting for a price drop, and ordered trek remastered season one, on regular dvd from amazon uk, for 38 euros shipped.Sure, its not blu ray, but it is the newly remastered episodes.Plus, when I watch this on my upscaling blu- ray player its pretty damn good.Id love to have trek original series blu ray, but when I can watch the same remastered episodes in almost as good quality as blu ray,and at nearly half the price, ill stick with those.

Consider the fact that I was once a member of the Columbia House Laser Disc club for the Orginal Star Trek series. I received one disc a month and they contained 2 episodes at $34.95 a disc x 40 months.
The $74.99 complaint to me is laughable. |

We could split the $170.99 for the Seasons 1-3 box set, me paying 1/3 for season 1 and you 2/3 for seasons 2-3 but that may be a bit difficult logistically.

I would but $56 per season is still more than I wam willing to spend. I only spent $45 + $s for shipping, I am holding off until I can get season 2 and 3 for that price.

But alas season 1, may just buy it at $70 to get it over with. I'm normally fine waiting for things, but not sure I can this time. |

I am only 29 and was unfamiliar with the original Star Trek series growing up. I'd always assumed given the series cult following the original series lasted a long time, like maybe a decade or more. Only when the Blu-Ray came out did I shockingly learn this series only went three seasons.
