Default "My first "NEW" Car, I'm thinging Volkswagen"

Well it has taken along time to get my s*** together but that day has finally arrived, my first new car will be mine in less than 6 months.
I know I like Volkswagens and reviews have been mainly positive, but I was hoping to talk to Volkswagen owners here for some more insight.
Seems the only negitive I have been hearing is some electrical issues, even with brand new cars...thats kind of scary.

My main reasons for making this thread is are:

1. Talking with new car owners of the past and present to see what the smartest buy is.

2. Talk with Volkswagen Owners to hear pros and cons of owning one.

3. Help with the "Buying a new car for the first time" process.

Thanks to all who post!

If you do go VW please go TDi. Those cars are SIC.

Also, since you are getting your first new car, don't be afraid to WALK AWAY. It's the strongest message you can send to a sales person/stealership.

I should mention that I'd like my new car to be around $20,000 out the door, that SIC TDi although I know nothing about it sounds like it's fast and expensive! Am I wrong?

Honda/Acura FTW!!!

J/K.. but VW has had better ratings now than before. They had several electrical problems in the past.

My parents own a Passat. They like it, however it is a very expensive car to maintain and they have had bad serivice with their dealer. I agree with Teabaggins on possibly getting a honda.

Civic, or an Accord when they are getting rid of it so they can bring in the new models.

I think Honda still makes the CP model 4 door Civic which is the value Civic with no extras. No Vtec either.

I love my Fit though.

get a VW if you are a pretentious twit and don't plan on reselling it...ever. and you're ok with cursing at yourself when you have to do any type of maintenance.

be realistic:

1) this is the first time you are able to afford a new car

2) most likely you will be cash poor in a few months

3) don't blow your wad in one spot

No kids, it's just me and my fiancee...for now or at least the next four years or so. I do like small compacts like the two door Golf/Rabbit hatchback. They start at $17,500 can probably walk out around $20,000.

At 20k or less I guess I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck. Entry is all I'm hearing right now but thats not really a bad thing in my eyes. A new semi cool car with good feedback is all I really want.

Also Honda probably has one of the most bang for the buck features.

on second thought; why are you buying a new car?

you got 20k burning a hole in your pocket? buy slightly used(under 30k miles), save the rest of the cash

goddamn kids....
