Default Question re: Firmware

Hey, First post so take it easy on me. I have 5 Blu-Ray players ( 4 Samsung BD-P1000's and a PS3 ), I bought the 4 Samsungs in April of this year. My question is, I have never done any firmware updates at all to any of them. Can anyone lend some advice or give me some info at what these all do. I know I can't play either Pirates DVd's. That is obviously a problem.
Also, I see there are two different Firmware updates here on this site, and there is one on Samsungs site, What is the difference in those 3? Do I have to run all Three? and do I have to run them in order of when they came out? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

AFAIK, the latest firmware update includes everything from those that came before it. So you should only have to do one update per player (the PS3 is a definite on this). I would download the updates directly from Samsung, but that's just me. This will fix your problem with Pirates and anything else.

You need to run whateve the latest one is. Firmware updates are not cumulative, it's "out with the old, in with the new".

They will greatly increase the speed and reliability of your player, the original firmware had some overblown noise reduction turned on and this is fixed

Fixes stuttering audio/video while viewing movies with DTS soundtracks

Adds pillarboxing to 4:3 content on Blu-ray discs (instead of stretching it to widescreen),
Improved load times
Hourglass icon changed to colored dots
Fixes reversed analog outs on affected players
Adds DTS decoding for DVD content (like AVIA test disc)

Welcome. There's a lot more fixes than that, those are just ones people found. None of the CEs will publish exactly what was changed in any of their firmware, only when they add features
