Default Firmware question

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I have a question regarding firmware for the samsung P1200.

My parents have had this since 07, and I need to update its firmware. Can I just Dl and burn onto CD the latest firmware patch? or do I have to start from 2.0 and keep going up to 2.6?

updating the firmware on any device completely replaces the version running on it, no need to progressively upgrade, just upgrade with the latest version you should be good

What ever you do, after the FW update is started, DO NOT turn off the player. If the player does not turn it's self off after the FW update, wait at least an hour to do a power cycle.

For some reason, the player won't shut it's self off after a FW update in some cases.
I've had to manually power cycle mine on two FW updates but I waited at least an hour after the FW update started to perform the manual power cycle.
