If someone would OEM a burner for HD DVD, that could change. Heck, even an OEM reader would be a start. I heard some HD DVD systems were being created by the maker going out and buying an HD-A1 and then ripping out the drive!
I believe the archival aspects are important (I sure wish I had one for my cable HDPVR). So, without a viable burner, HD DVD isn't going to be big in HTPC. Come up is the OCAP (Open Cable Application Platform) boxes. Panasonic is doing one for Comcast. Put a BD burner in that, and you have a one box solution. That would be huge. Gary |
