Default Gaming Emergency - more USB slots needed!

Hello my fellow Blu-ray buddies,

Got an issue.

Had a 60 gig which got the Red Light a few months ago.

Got a new Slim.

Problem is, my kid has a birthday party, TOMORROW, and I've just realized I don't have enough USB slots for the drums, guitar and mic for Rock Band.

I stopped at a gamestop and asked if they had some kind of expansion for it - they were clueless and said, "I know the 360 has one, don't think the PS3 has one - but Rock Back is on the way out anyway."

I don't need an opinion on the relevance of Rock Band in gaming today - I need an expansion.

Anyway, does anyone know if something like this exists - or, if there something that can be used that can be purchased at best buy, or something - that will do what I need?

Remember, I need it by tomorrow, so using Amazon or something won't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys,

Just go to Best Buy and get a "USB Hub".

Here is an example of one on Amazon.com:

Does anyone know if Rock Band items will work using one of these? Just want to make sure.

Anyone have experience using a product like this for these gaming situations? Any problems like delays or anything strange?

Thanks funsocaltiger, for the quick response.

I'm assuming you have Rock Band 1? I'm only asking because I got Rock Band 2 kit and you can plug everything on one of the plugs because they have two usb slots on the side. You just would just need to plug the mic seperately.

As for the USB hub, I have used one in the past and it has worked, that being said, I never used it with rock band so I don't know if it causes any delays or anything like that but I wouldn't think so.

*edit*

Just did google search and found this link

Quote:
There are third party manufacturers that do make USB hubs, specifically Pelican, which makes one specifically for Rock Band, but this will add an additional cost of USD 25 to your Rock Band purchase.

I dont see why a usb hub wouldn't work. I know my 360 version of rock band 1 came with a usb hub to be able to plug everything in. Good luck.

I personally havent bought one since my CT-100 soundbar has plenty of usb space.
On eof my friends did purchase a HDMI switch device, which utitlized 4-5 USB connected to his TV(Since his TV only supported 2 HDMI Ports)

It works well, I would recommend the HUB Socaltiger advised as you'll be using every item at once.

Hit best Buy Up You Can't loose

Yes, I have RB1.

Ok, sounds like the hub at a Best Buy will work fine, then.

Didn't know if it had to be specifically made for Rock Back type devices, etc.

Thanks all!

Overheating issue. I heard it's either a chip that came loose of the mobo due to overheating or hard drive failure. I had the same thing happen to me and when it was repaired they said they replaced the mobo.

Any powered USB hub expansion slot would work. I actually bought the official Rock Band USB set, which was listed as being for the XBox360, and it works perfectly with the PS3 since their universal.

YLOD is caused by overheating of the CPU and GPU causing them become "unseated."

Nah they're are the same thing dude. YLoD is the GPU and/or the CPU seperating from the motherboard due to overheat. first it flashes yellow, then blinks red. trust me, i've had it twice and fixed it my self one of those times. rarely has anything to do with the blu-ray lens....

this, the blu ray lens is a seperate problem that does not have a light color associated with it, the ps3 will simply stop reading discs, other than that it will function normally, playing downloaded games, using the PS store, web browser etc...
