Many in this forum will give Sammy props.
I feel that Sammys going the wrong direction Promoting both formats.....This action will now give Paramount more time to push HD-DVD thus prolonging the format war costing consumers more.

Korean CE brands have nowhere near the loyalty that the Japanese CE brands do. Look at the 2 dual format player makers, LG and Samsung, both Korean.

It's like Sammy and LG want to Play it safe for there customer providing such a player yet making it even harder on them. It,s all about the money and are friends at LG and Sammy are making things worse at the consumer expense..Im very disappointed to say the least.I currently own a Samsung 5084 Plasma and feel like selling it.
It will be the last Sammy product I will ever own.

Perhaps this has been addressed already but what's going to happen to individuals who bought machines that are not 1.1? Will there be a firmware update or are we screwed?

We have the Panasonic DMP-BD10 and the Pioneer BDP-94HD and id hate to think we have to obsolete machines

that loyalty crap is so stupid, I love samsung and they should make all the best electronics they can that will make them money. if it sells then the consumer wants it. I'm sure they'd make hddvd players too if it wasn't for toshiba being dumbasses.

bleah

or I dunno the dual players are lame as hell.

my mind is torn between my blu side and my korean side

ok I finally decided the combo player isn't thatt bad. I think we all know the ps3 is gonna force bluray to rape hddvd and soon we will be the winner.

I don't think this hurts us, for every person who would've instead bought a bd player there's a person who would've bought an hddvd player.

Do you want to watch the movies you want in HD now or do you want to rationalize the reasons you can't?

As song as there are exclusive studios there will be a market (albeit small) for these types of players.

Does everyone here really think that after the war is over and blu has won that the movie studios will actually go back and redo all of their HD-DVD releases?
Hell no, they will just but them out on blu as is.
It's what happening with most of the neutral titles out now today.

The movie will still play, but (for sure on the Panny, which I also own) some of the interactive special features will not work. Movie playback, however, will not affected.
