Default Sony LCDs - Need Help

Those of you who own Sony LCD's, are they worth it? How do they rate compared to other manufacturers?

Lastly, please someone help me understand their naming scheme. What are the XBR's? The top end models?

For instance - is this a decent one .. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Bravia-KD...blurayforum-20

Thanks.

I have always liked my sonys. They are more expensive for the most part. The XBR is the top of the line. That is the best non XBR that they make.
I think they make some of the best TV's if you are willing to pay for them.

We have a 40" XBR2 and it is worth every dime. Even turned off it looks like a piece of artwork. We almost never go to the movies anymore. Not worth the hassle. Just fire up the Blu-ray and settle in for the evening.

Thanks for the input. I really like the design, not fond of the silver frame tho. I think there is a black version if I was reading right?

there is a black version, but it is 200 more. You can change the colors though. I have a 40 xbr 2, i love it, however I wish I would have waited because the xbr4 is amazing. They have them on display with blu-ray players at best buy, it really is amazing, I want to sell my xbr 2 and get the xbr 4

I believe the xbr 5 is black. Same tv just in black. Like the xbr 2/xbr 3, same tv just xbr 2 was silver and the xbr 3 was black.

that's right, now that I think about it, either way though, this tv is incredible. I had such a hard time convincing my wife to let me get the xbr2, then I saw the xbr4 and told her she said, if I get it, she is kicking me out, then I took her to best buy to see it and she wanted it also. And my wife is not even into these sort of things, but was blown away. They had Dead man's chest on there. Too bad I can't afford it right now.

I got my XBR4 a month ago, and the quality still amazes me. Definitely worth the extra money.

Love mine. It was worth every penny to me. At the time, there was nothing close at Best Buy. I walked in the store with the intent on buying a 720p plasma and it is what I left with.

XBR4s are eye-crack... you know you can't afford it, but you buy it anyway and just stare at it... if it were a woman, i'd hump it and call it a *****.

I HIGHLY recommend the XBR LCD's.

I bought a 46" in January and I couldn't be more pleased.
The PQ on it is superb, especially watching Blu-ray movies on it.

By the way CNET also rated it as the BEST lcd out there.

Yes it is expensive but I think its worth it overall.

Lol, he said Eye Crack -

Yeah, I am gonna have to see if the prices come down for Christmas or if there are any sales. I think if there is something going on for the Sony LCD's I will look into them first. If not, I will have to go with Panasonic Plasma route.

All very good info here. Let's me know that these LCD's are the right choice

Thanks!

actually the BEST deals can be had right before SUPER BOWL when they try to push Big Screen TV's like mad. Huge sales and really long 0% financing....which is your best friend when you are talking about a TV that costs more than 3 grand. That way you don't have to take the hit all at once.

The XBR4 and XBR5 are the best LCD's you can buy. They are expensive but will thrill you.

If you go down one notch to the "W" series, you may still be very happy with this set for less money....easier on the pocketbook.

The XBR5 comes only in gloss black.....the XBR4 is a non-shiny black and gives you the option to buy replacement bezels in various colors......the W sets come in a gunmetal black.
