Default Ticketmaster fees getting to be a joke.

I just bought 3 Stone Temple Piolets tickets for 45 dollars apiece. Grand total was 215 dollars..Thats a 75 dollar fee to print 3 tickets and mail them for 50 cents. BS I tell you.

This is what Monopolies can do to you. I am honestly amazed that nothing has been done about ticketmasters market share it is ridiculous.

It's only going to get worse with Ticketmaster's merger with Live Nation. Those two companies are going to control all the major events. I was hoping the Department of Justice was going to reject the merger but they approved it with some restrictions that they claim will help other companies compete. I haven't used Ticketmaster since I bought some NFL tickets in 2006. I think the tickets were $65 each and there was $9 in fees per ticket. From the sounds of it things are getting worse.

I don't how Ticketmaster is allowed to have these fees when ticket scalping is supposed to be illegal

Govt wont look at it as scalping because they pay taxes as a legitimate business

Ticket scalping is legal in most states. The link shows what states restrict ticket sales above face value. Regardless, scalping wouldn't apply to Ticketmaster since they are the original ticket seller.

Concert prices in general is highway robbery. My wife and I just bought tickets for a Bon Jovi concert in May and after all the fees and such the total cost for two tickets was close to $250.

Ticketmaster started scalping their own tickets a few years ago.

There are other ones like NYsports tickets (think they do concerts too) or something, I've ordered quite a few parking passes on other sites besides ticketmaster.

Its funny they should say free tickets but processing fees are 200+ lmao You know how many stupid people would get sucked into that

As I recall (I think that the tickets were through Ticketmaster) that when Jon Anderson of Yes had to cancel the Yes tour in 2008 because of his asthma and throat ailments, Ticketmaster kept all of their fees but returned the cost of the tickets.

If you want to ensure you see a band and they only sell through Ticketmaster (and of course ticketmaster now basically has a monopoly on tickets), what other choice would someone have??

I bought STP tickets when they came to Halifax, Nova Scotia in November. We don't deal with Ticketmaster so the fees were 7 bucks per ticket. Of course the tickets themselves were $ 60 so I guess we come out even.
The show was great, your money was well spent.

It may not be an option for all, but I find its best to get your tickets directly from a Ticketmaster outlet. You will not be charged as much and if you use cash there will be no charge fees.

Concert promoters, hotels and lodging sites soon will have to disclose extra fees up front

I think those are convenience fees. They charge you for the convenience.

Yup, fees are outrageous, but what alternative is there. None. They're so high because they can get away with it. I've missed my fair share of shows because I refuse to spend that much money on tickets. Big arena shows are a rarity for me now just because of the prices.
