If Lucas wants to re-adjust the art that he has made, that's his choice to do so. If you ask any other Producers or Directors if they had the chance to go back and re-adjust {or re-film or add special effects to} any one of their movies if they would do so, the answer would likely be an astounding YES.

Don't criticize Lucas just because he actually HAS the ability to make those changes because he doesn't have to work ever again {due to making ground breaking deals when the original trilogy was made} so he CAN go back and change whatever he wants, you may not like it, he may not care.

While he had some back story and some characters he developed to add depth to the script that became Episode I but not much else. All that came later was developed, well... later.
Yes it its true....Lucas himself said back in 1981 that it was going to be a 9 PART SERIES AND AT THE END OF PART 9 IT WOULD BE THE TWO DRIODS TELLING THE STROY THOUGHT THEIR EYES.......AS THEY WERE GOING TO BE THE ONLY TWO CHARCTERS IN ALL 9 FILMS! Thats what he said in Fantastic Films, Starlog, Famous Monsters...one of the rags bak in the day.

Lucas has changed his mind more than a woman changes clothes.....he will say somthing in one interview and a year later say something totally different. He has destroyed his original films to fit the MUCH inferior prequels. The guy has flown by the seat of his pants all these years.

Why all this anger over 6 cheesie movies? I love Star Wars huge fan but come on they are not the greatest thing in the universe. Why get so upset over it.

I just finish Twillight about 30 minutes ago. Wow! That was 2 hours I will never get back. I can see why pre-teen girls would fall head over heels for that movie but it's truly bad. Just lost 2 hours watching it, should I start running around in anger and demand the producers give me back those 2 hours of my life? It's nothing more then a movie.

Ever heard of Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson? They go back and reedit their films and have no problem whatsoever in providing the public with both versions of THEIR films(or FIVE in case of Blade Runner). So what is this nincompoops problem in following suit?

And where did "Daddy" Warbucks get most of his money from anyway? The Original Trilogy!

The fans that gave him his wealth by seeing his movies dozens of times and buying all the toys, records, coloring books, model kits, double dipping on VHS tapes then again double dipping on DVDs! You would think that he would appreciate all the riches that his fans have thrown at him and just respond to a SIMPLE REQUEST for the Uncut The Original Trilogy in a HD format. Its funny that ONE OF HIS EXCUSES is that it would be to expensive to do. He has MORE MONEY that god!

That shirt that he is wearing is just him giving the finger to all the fans that made him rich and living in luxury for the rest of his life!

I suppose some will find the smallest insult into anything. I would hate meeting some of you in real life. To get this upset over 6 movies and guy wearing a t-shirt, I feel for the people around you. But I guess you have the right to be angry if you want too.

I chalk that up to 'artistic choice' and so should you.

Kinda funny, since I mentioned that in my previous post, {you know, one of the parts that you bolded for me}

There's a difference between a 'simple request' and 'mindless fanboy crying' I'll leave it to you to figure out which one you're doing.

Then again, if your complaint is that you want the original trilogy in a HD format, he hasn't released either of them in an HD format yet. Cut or Uncut, so your complaining is a little premature...

Not to mention the painful irony that you're complaining about double dipping and then mentioning that you want to get the series AGAIN in a HD format.

Actually, the shirt he's wearing is a joke, and a funny one at that.

I'm angry at the pic cause he's mocking us. He knows that the fans who were there since the beginning want a BD of the original version that he presented to us in the summer of 1977. I was 12 years old and that movie just blew me away. Hang me up a tree and burn me...I just love movies!

I notice that you have yet to take a simple piece of advice that was given to you earlier.

See if you can get people to write a letter to Lucas to include the original uncut trilogies on Blu-Ray when he eventually releases the Producer edited versions, and get people to HAND SIGN a petition in order to do it...

Because, you see, online petitions are a dime a dozen and nobody really takes them seriously... unless you were one of the folks that thought the 'save HD-DVD' online petition actually worked...

A lot of the things Lucas said would never be happening actually did happen. Episode I arrived on dvd before Episode was in theaters, and so did the original se trilogy. In fact, he also said the trilogy wouldn't be released on dvd at all, and that did happen. Plus the fact that the original unaltered trilogy was released on every home video format in the past, makes me sure it will be released on Blu eventually. If he's all about money, he would do that.

He could just get this whole thing to stop with HD releases of the original trilogy, that's all.

Francis Ford Coppola still hasn't released Apocalypse Now in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio, so he's not doing it right as well.

Well...here are some more rumours from aintitcool.com:

Quote:
There's A New STAR WARS Film Coming??

Merrick here...

Thomas Dolby, who co-authored the mesmerizing theme song to HOWARD THE DUCK back in 1986...

...has an noteworthy entry on his blog. We're specifically talking about Dolby's December 5 entry, which can be found HERE.

Buried unceremoniously beneath a mound of text chronicling his visit to California, Dolby refers to a new STAR WARS movie. It's so fast you could easily miss it:

" My host is friend and former collaborator Paul Sebastien, who over the years has worked for Xbox, Playstation, and now LucasArts. Last night he was telling me a little about the forthcoming Star Wars-related TV show, movie and online games—very cool indeed.
[EDIT]
...it sounds like Mr Lucas has got his head into a good place. I met him several times when I was working on a movie in the 80s called [name suppressed to protect credibility!] and he’s a decent chap, but I could have done without the last three SW movies.
"

We've heard about the TV series both ongoing and forthcoming, and already know there will be more games. But a new movie? Is he talking about a TV project (whether new - or related to the already announced series & whatnot)? Or, is he discussing something different?

Presuming Thomas intended to say "movie"...

Sure didn't like The Prequels much at all (SITH wasn't too bad, although it didn't exactly warm my loins). This said, I've really been enjoying catching up with THE CLONE WARS television series. It's certainly uneven...and I really despise that Lucas feels slavishly compelled to soften his action by injecting broad comedy into heated adventure sequences. But, in the end, THE CLONE WARS represents STAR WARS, told differently, and with more ingenuity and vibrance than the franchise's recent big screen entries (standard DVD and Blu-Ray sets HERE). Proves there's still life in the old mare after all.

If the Lucas that allowed THE CLONE WARS to happen brings us another STAR WARS film - with the same open-minded approach to storytelling? I might be interested. Will the new movie be a stand alone set in the STAR WARS universe, perhaps? Possibly intended to introduce us to another subset of the franchise? We'll see.

The probability of STAR WARS' return to theater screens has always seemed a foregone conclusion. But...unless I missed something...this is the first time we've heard anything pointed about it happening. Back in October, Lucas folk denied that new STAR WARS movies were being planned (HERE). So, unless Dolby misspoke, or is bat-shit crazy, I'm wondering what's changed since then? AVATAR, maybe? Perhaps George now wants a digital/3-D tale of his own? Guess none of this is that big a mystery, really. We've all seen the Whim of George in action before; the winds shift in the blink of an eye.

A tip of the hat to Talkbacker Paulseta, who posted about this in yesterday's AVATAR song Talkback (HERE) - where nobody listened.

From Markersaw Wednesday, December 09:

More Confirmation That Our Exclusive Story On A New Star Wars Trilogy Is Happening

Jim here. Remember in MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL when Tim the wizard informed the knights about the killer rabbit? What was his response when the rabbit started making stew out of them? Well I told ya. Didn't I?

STAR WARS is going to have another trilogy and it will be in 3D (see original story right here). The first supporting piece of outside information comes from AICN, who ironically also provided the sole piece of anti-support when they contacted LucasFilm and got an rather emphatic "no" (what did you expect them to say?). In fact, Lucasfilm's Steve Sansweet's response was so over the top you had to know he was covering it up.

So what was this new evidence of a new STAR WARS entry? It comes from Thomas Dolby's blog entry for December 5.

When I posted that exclusive story back on October 21, it was picked up around the world of course as STAR WARS is a beloved cultural achievement. I was very clear in the post: This trilogy was NOT the animated TV series and is in fact a brand new batch of freshly baked cinematic movies.

Further, I made it clear that George Lucas would NOT be directing, but rather taking up the producing helm. Who could be directing? My source tells me it will be Spielberg for the first and Coppola potentially for a future movie in the series.

Makes me smile every time my sources and I are vindicated. :-) Sure it still is not official, and obviously Lucasfilm doesn't want this getting out just yet. But this is MarketSaw right guys? And we will all be smiling when these epics make it out in 3D. Should be spectacular. AVATAR spectacular? We shall see won't we?

Thanks to @PROJECTCOULD for the heads up again!

I sincerely doubt there will be new movies. Lucas has been talking about redoing the current films in 3-D so that is most likely what is going on and information is getting jumbled...on purpose most likely.

Oh lordy!! The thought of Star Wars UCE's, 3-disc, hours and hours of supplemental video, with copies of the original, redone digital, and 3-D versions in quality, individual boxsets?? Yessssss!! Ill mark it on my calendar and impatiently countdown the days.

Now? Just please let this be true.

Rumor of another Star Wars trilogy as been around for 30 years People are just getting confuse. Lucas want's to turn the 6 movies in 3D not make three new movies.

If there is truth to the rumor, lets hope he does choose to produce and get other people to write and direct (even if he plots). Star Wars always tends to be better when Lucas isn't the sole authority in charge of the project.
