Unhappy Help!!! My new Pioneer Elite isn't working right!!!

So I bought a Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH from Powerseller NYC on ebay and it finally came in today. After I got off work I went strait to hooking it up, and now that it is hooked up here is what is going on...
It powers on and off just fine.
I get no video whatsoever, including no on screen guide
Turning the volume knob does nothing
turning the input knob does nothing
the only buttons that do anything on the front paner are the power button and the mulitzone on/off button
Remote seems to work fine
No blue light in the middle of the panel and no red lights on the across the front buttons like in the pic
When I plug my iphone in the iphone senses its hooked to an accessory, but again, nothing on the screen and no audio.
I am hoping that I didnt get scammed, it was factory sealed, and in perfect mint new condition but am so far very dissapointed, and tired since I started at 8:15 on this thing and am finally giving up at 11:30pm

I have the output HDMI 1 going to my LG TV
I have my ps3 going into BD HDMI input
I have my Dish Network HDMI going into the HDMI 2 input
My Xbox going into the component input 1 and optical audio 1
My Wii going into the component DVR and LR audio into LR DVR
It is in Zone 2 mode, and I can switch between 2 and 3, I am running 5.1

Am I doing something wrong???? This receiver is way above my pioneer VSX-D814, but I am usually pretty good at this kind of thing.

Please help, My wife will be even more pissed if this thing is faulty!!!!!!

The manual clearly says that you can't use the HOME MENU when you are either in Zone 2 or 3. So yeah make sure you are at MAIN then do the setup.

HEY......i just tried mine out and you might just have at the bottom of the remote in zone 2 or 3 it needs to be in MAIN in the middle or you will have probs with not having video or lights no need to worry

Only one issue now, so out of all my components the only one giving me troubl is my xbox 360. I have tried it in component 1 and 2 and it will not transfer a video signal, just audio through the optical, now if I switch it to standard def, it goes through fine and is upconverted to 720p???? anybody got an answer, or do I just need to run the video to the tv?? Thanks in advance.

Have you assigned the component input to anything? You need to go into the menu and assign the input to a specific menu input. Otherwise it defaults to the composite legacy input.

I'm glad to hear you got it working. I would have been sweating it as well.

As Zman2k2 pointed out, you probably need to assign the input so that a certain component video input is linked to the specific optical input you're using for audio. Why not use HDMI for your 360?

Thanks, I wouldnt have been able to sleep last night if i didnt figure it out.

On the XBOX 360, the video transfer will go through when I switch it to the SDTV setting, and of course it lets me upconvert and all that, but comes nowhere near the actual 1080p setting of course. It simply will not go through when set on HD mode. The Wii going through component went just fine, even though it was running 480P.... I just dont see the problem here. Not that it is a horrible inconvience, I just wanted to never have to change tv inputs on different sources, which was one of the selling factors on this reciever. I tried messing with the video input settings and that didnt do anything.

On your Xbox 360 have you tried setting it on 1080i instead of 1080p? When I had mine running via component video, it wouldn't give me a picture on 1080p, but it worked fine on 1080i. I think that has to do with that HCDP crap, and alot of components won't accept 1080p over anything but HDMI, even though component video can carry the signal.

Any time. I'm glad I was able to help, and I'm glad you didn't get a dud receiver. Enjoy.

If you ever upgrade to a 360 with HDMI out the 1080i/1080p thing won't be an issue any more.

Ya, you and me both, this thing sounds great, It still has the same type of audio my old pioneer had that i enjoyed, but this one pushes much more power and is overall cleaner as well.

The Elites are awesome receivers. Mine is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Thanks. I should have thought of that sooner because I used to have a non-HDMI 360 console and it was the same situation for me. It took me a while to figure it out on my own at the time.
