For those who have seen this film is it good? To me it looks like it was very overlooked. True?

Really liked it, but the ending was a bit meh... just seemed like the film was posing certain questions it didn't really answer when it finished. Carey Mulligan was fantastic in it. 8/10

I'd agree w/ the others above in that the ending was sort of 'eh'. I certainly don't need all of the movies that I watch to have some large morality tale to them, but the main character in this movie gets off far to easily and doesn't seem to learn anything.

That being said...Carey Mulligan was FANTASTIC! If she keeps choosing roles wisely, she'll have a fine career.

An Education is my favorite movie that came out last year. (Considering it was nominated for Best Picture I'm not sure if you can say it was overlooked.) Mulligan does a fine job and the mood is super-cool, but the best part is the often overlooked Peter Saarsgard. IMO he's one of the best actors working right now.

I think she learns a lot, there just isn't any need to show that. Which is why they probably cut the final scene (if they filmed it, which I think they did.) Spoiler for the ending that I think was cut.

[Show spoiler]It has to do with Peter Saarsgard (SP?) visiting her at college two years later. He has just been released from jail and thinks that they are just going to continue their relationship. Had been in jail the entire two years I guess.

An Education Blu-ray Review

I just hired this in Australia (thank God I didn't pay for it).
The blu-ray (yes this is a blu-ray) includes a low quality MPEG-2 video stream at about 14-15GB, and a single AC3 audio track encoded ar 448kbps. And that's it.

Here's a snapshot of the encoding quality:

What a great little film! Carey Mulligan gives an absolute tour de force performance as a young naive girl who expiriences life like she never has before. Easily one of the best female works of the decade. It also helps that the whole cast was great expecially Olivia Williams(Rushmore), Alfred Molina(Boogie Nights), and Peter Sarsgaard who I usually don't like. Film 4/5
