Fox Unveils Specs for 'Prison Break' Blu-ray
Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 03:12 PM ET
Tags: Disc Announcements, TV on High-Def, Fox (all tags)

Fox won't be pulling any punches with its first-ever TV-on-Blu-ray release, with confirmed specs for 'Prison Break: Season One' including hours of bonus features.

As we've previously reported, the studio first announced a next-gen release for 'Prison Break' this past August, promising a well-stocked package that would rival any of its A-list theatrical Blu-ray titles. With full specs now confirmed, the highly-anticpated box set certainly looks like it will live up to fan expectations.

Spread across six BD-50 dual-layer discs, all 22 first-season episodes will be presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround (at 48kHz/24-bit).

Extras are set to include audio commentaries with cast and crew on nine episodes, multiple deleted scenes, two making-of featurettes, a Fox "Anatomy of a Scene" TV special, and a collection of six promo spots. (There are no announced Blu-ray exclusives at this time.)

Fox has set a retail price of $99.98.

Plan on buying this first day. Been following it loyally since the beginning. Looks like Fox won't be disappointing. Now if only they bring Burn Notice to Blu and give dates for any region A release of Sunshine, then I will never speak ill of Fox again.

Angel, 24, and Bones, I'm very interested in. I would like to also add Firefly to the list.

X-Files maybe.

If they put out that X-Files complete collection on Blu I'd buy it right away. MAYBE Buffy if it wasn't some insane price.

I only have 2 seasons of X-files on DVD so I would probably get entire series on Blu w/o blinking an eyelash

Since I traditionally have always worked during prime time tv, I have somehow never seen a single episode of 24. Is that bad? The other choices I do not care about.

Fox does have that new series coming out: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. As a big fan of the Terminator series, I expect a lot from it. If it does somehow turn out to be a good show, I'd get that on Blu as well.

I would think any of those shows would bring a number of people to blu-ray.

I hate to say it but if Angel came out for HD DVD (even though its a Fox show) its the one release that would make me buy an HD DVD player.

Arrested Development, Buffy, Family Guy, Futurama, Simpsons are also must have Fox shows for me. But Angel is my favorite show of all time.

Mark me as the third. Definitely deserving of a BD release.
