Playstation 3 compatibility - Blu-ray Forum

On most of my Blu-Ray movies I've recently purchased, it's mentioned that they're Playstation 3 compatible. Are there any specific titles that are confirmed to not work with PS3?

Hi,

They will all work. Just make sure you are current with updates/firmware.

I remember buying a greenday DVD and it say on the cover playstion 2 compatible, I suspect they do this as they see it as a popular consumer product and advertise it's compatibility to educate the consumers who bought said CE device and might not know that it has this functionality.

all is not right i would say more like 95% to 98% but do not get the 40gb because sony dropped it for the 40gb so no compatibility with the 40gb ps3 or any newer one coming soon

the compatibility the 40 GB dropped is with PS2 and PS1 games it'll play BD movies and PS3 games just fine.

What the hell are you talking about all blu-ray movies are 100% compatible with the ps3, as long as you have up to date firmware. I also heard that the 40GB model is fully profile 1.1 and 1.2 compliant according to SCE.

alright that's cool, thanks everyone for your replies. just curious, but i was sure they'd all work with the PS3.

PS3 will play anything. Also, it will load movie discs 10-20 times faster than any player on the market -excluding some fairly stable software players. Upgrades are just as important for the PS3 as they are for all BD players, and fortunately the PS3 can be upgraded via your handy usb drive much more easily than burning a bootable iso image to CD or DVD like for most other players -never works on first try for me.
