WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

At the VERY beginning of the 1st episode, there's sort of a recap of the previous seasons, and there's a shot of
[Show spoiler]Ellen on a porch shotgunning Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson).

I don't remember that from last season! Did that happen or is that possibly a "Flashforward" for this season?
[Show spoiler] I heard he was going to be in this season.

Wow @ the ending to that.
[Show spoiler] Kinda figured there was only one of two peope that would be in that dumpster, and realizing that it couldn't be Ellen if they were gonna do another season, that it would be Tom.

With the low ratings the show has gotten, perhaps they figure this is going to be the last season, and are writing it as if it is? That'd be crazy if it turns out that Ellen AND Tom are dead by the end of the show. Is that why Ellen wasn't in the "6 months later" aspect? Hmmmmmm...

Thoughts anyone? I still haven't gotten an answer to that question I asked above:

It's a damn shame more people aren't watching this.

Yet ANOTHER really cool fun actor has joined the cast in this newest episode.

He was great in The Long Kiss Goodnight and The 13th Floor

I didn't particularly like season two, but I gotta say season three is a vast improvement so far.

[Show spoiler]The thing with Tom however makes wonder if there's any chance for a fourth season. It seems like they're wrapping it up with the death of a major character.
Which would be unfortunate, because if the show is as good as it is at the moment it's highly addictive.

you should maybe spoiler tag the stuff bout the death.

Also yeah this has been a good season. The ratings are abysmal though, and even on FX I can't see this sticking around, unless it wins a buncha Emmys and even that doesn't guarantee anything (see: Fox v. Arrested Development)

I enjoy this show. This is the first season I have watched so I am a little confused with some of the back story and then Ted Danson but overall this is a good quality show. That Martin Short character gets creepier every week. It seems like they do one thing per episode to make him look like a complete weirdo.

Damn I love this show, but if this gets a renewal for Season 4 I'm going to be SHOCKED and expecting someone at FX to get kicked out on their asses.

According to the numbers AICN posted they got a 0.2 this past week. I'm glad this is on FX where they'll at least run the final episodes no matter how damn bad the ratings are (and this is proof apparantly).

It's crazy to me how some shows go on and on and are just a complete turd, and yet this one that's complex and intelligent and extremely well acted, critically acclaimed to boot is getting no love from the audience.

I don't know if they're factoring in DVR or Internet viewings via their site or Hulu or anything, but it's crazy that this is only getting a 0.2

It doesn't surprise me. People like crap these days instead of quality. They don't want to have to be forced to think. They just want something quick, easy, very little thought process. This is my first season watching this show and I love it.

DAMAGES COULD BE SAVED!!! SEASON 4 A POSSIBILITY?!!?

http://www.series.nu/news/tv-series-...ages-from-axe/

Quote:
Sony and DirecTV will reportedly partner to keep Damages on the air for another season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the cost sharing arrangement would be between Sony and DirecTV’s 101 Network, and be similar to the one DirecTV forged with NBC over Friday Night Lights.

An insider claimed that Sony reached out to DirecTV last month after it became clear that FX could no longer fund the show on its own due to financial reasons.

“DirecTV is one of several outlets that have been approached. All options are on the table,” said the source.

The critically-acclaimed show is weak in the ratings with under a million viewers and a two-share in the desirable 18-49 demographic.

The third season concludes on April 19.

Just finished up season two and starting season three in the next day or two. Man I find it hard to believe the show is having such rating trouble. I thought the first season kinda stalled a bit in the middle but picked up nicely towards the end and I really liked season 2 thought it was great. Itching to get to season 3, my fiance is loving it as well.

The big problem with this show is the following:

1. It's serialized. Overall the serialized shows don't do well in the ratings, and rarely last longer than a season or two. Lost and Heroes are two exceptions, and Heroes ratings have plummeted over the last several years.

2. It's a slow moving dialogue driven show. Not very much action (if any) and it's all drama and dialogue.

These two things are the death knell for television shows, as most people want easy to digest things that are fast moving.

Lightbulb Simply phenomenal

Damages is simply phenomenal. This show draws you in and twist and turn you until you are literally FREAKING OUT!!! Season 3 is especially interesting because you find yourself cheering and hating that same person throughout various segments in the series.

I just finished an episode that literally had me saying "Oh..my..God!" (10xTimes) I feel so bad for what has transpired, I had to search for a forum to write (hence, why I'm here). I'm not going to give anything away, but I feel that family loyalty is THOROUGHLY displayed in this series.

Patty Hewes is my favorite person because I simply love her attitude. Whereas I don't always agree with her methodology or thinking, I can respect her and know that she will take care of business BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. She is truly a remarkable character. She reminds me a lot of a mixture of my family members. Sometimes you need a "take-no-sh*t" attitude to gain the fear (respect) of others.

This show ranks #1 on my List. (others on my list include Justified and Spartacus: Blood and Sand)

Not just TV my friend most people don't want to be bothered to think about anything, just look at the country.
BTW what do you mean by serialized?
I like dialog driven shows as long as it is good dialog. I used to love Homicide:Life on the Street. Loved the scenes in the "box" with the perps.

When this show came out, Glenn Close was contracted for three seasons. If it goes to DirectTV how's that work for those of us that have cable, FIoS or Uverse?

Serialized shows are ones that have major plots and storylines that develop over the course of the season or series.

Lost, Dexter, Heroes are examples. Other shows like Friends, Seinfeld, CSI, NCIS etc all are more examples of "Standalone" type shows. Ones where you can just drop in throughout the series and watch an episode or two and won't feel like you are picking up something in the middle of a huge story.

A lot of people don't tune into serialized shows because networks tend to cancel things quickly, and they don't want to get involved in a show that won't have an ending (John Doe is a great example).

It will air FIRST on Direct TV and then a week later (or less) it'll debut on FX.

Very similar to the way Friday Night Lights was done with Direct TV.

This is for all 1 of the Damages fans Groo

Quote:
At FX’s pre-upfront bash last night, every last one of the network’s shows was represented… except Damages. A bad omen? Hard to see it as anything but. However, FX prez John Landgraf assured me that the April 19th season-ender isn’t necessarily the series’ finale.

“Sony is talking to DirecTV,” he confirmed to me with what I took to be a tone of genuine optimism. “We couldn’t be happier with Damages creatively. The third season is superb. It’s a massive success from a creative standpoint.

“But,” he added, “it’s a show that has always struggled from a ratings standpoint. I think that’s because it’s so complicated. It takes an incredible amount of devotion and an incredible attention span to watch it.”

We could’ve debated whether those are really such bad things, but he quickly moved on to what was worse: Damages‘ pricetag. “It’s a fairly expensive show to produce,” he noted. “One of the reasons we’ve been able to keep it going for three years is because it’s done very well globally.”

In the end, I came away feeling like Landgraf was rooting for a fourth season almost as hard as I was. “If Sony can find the right partner, we’ll be happy,” he insisted. “There’s no question — we love it. It brings a lot of cache to our network.”

Yeah I was saying before that there's no way they can really justify a fourth season, whether I'd love for there to be one or not.

However, with Direct TV or perhaps HDNET or something like that stepping in and helping cover the costs, or whatever.... that could work.

Plus I agree with everything he said, as to the reasons it's hasn't done well. It IS a complex show that requires patience and an attention span.
