WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
At the VERY beginning of the 1st episode, there's sort of a recap of the previous seasons, and there's a shot of [Show spoiler] I don't remember that from last season! Did that happen or is that possibly a "Flashforward" for this season? [Show spoiler] IMAGES BELOW. [Show spoiler]

Thoughts anyone? I still haven't gotten an answer to that question I asked above:

I didn't particularly like season two, but I gotta say season three is a vast improvement so far.
[Show spoiler] Which would be unfortunate, because if the show is as good as it is at the moment it's highly addictive.

you should maybe spoiler tag the stuff bout the death.
Also yeah this has been a good season. The ratings are abysmal though, and even on FX I can't see this sticking around, unless it wins a buncha Emmys and even that doesn't guarantee anything (see: Fox v. Arrested Development) |

I enjoy this show. This is the first season I have watched so I am a little confused with some of the back story and then Ted Danson but overall this is a good quality show. That Martin Short character gets creepier every week. It seems like they do one thing per episode to make him look like a complete weirdo.

Damn I love this show, but if this gets a renewal for Season 4 I'm going to be SHOCKED and expecting someone at FX to get kicked out on their asses.
According to the numbers AICN posted they got a 0.2 this past week. I'm glad this is on FX where they'll at least run the final episodes no matter how damn bad the ratings are (and this is proof apparantly). It's crazy to me how some shows go on and on and are just a complete turd, and yet this one that's complex and intelligent and extremely well acted, critically acclaimed to boot is getting no love from the audience. I don't know if they're factoring in DVR or Internet viewings via their site or Hulu or anything, but it's crazy that this is only getting a 0.2 |

Just finished up season two and starting season three in the next day or two. Man I find it hard to believe the show is having such rating trouble. I thought the first season kinda stalled a bit in the middle but picked up nicely towards the end and I really liked season 2 thought it was great. Itching to get to season 3, my fiance is loving it as well.

1. It's serialized. Overall the serialized shows don't do well in the ratings, and rarely last longer than a season or two. Lost and Heroes are two exceptions, and Heroes ratings have plummeted over the last several years. 2. It's a slow moving dialogue driven show. Not very much action (if any) and it's all drama and dialogue. These two things are the death knell for television shows, as most people want easy to digest things that are fast moving. |

Damages is simply phenomenal. This show draws you in and twist and turn you until you are literally FREAKING OUT!!! Season 3 is especially interesting because you find yourself cheering and hating that same person throughout various segments in the series.
I just finished an episode that literally had me saying "Oh..my..God!" (10xTimes) I feel so bad for what has transpired, I had to search for a forum to write (hence, why I'm here). I'm not going to give anything away, but I feel that family loyalty is THOROUGHLY displayed in this series. Patty Hewes is my favorite person because I simply love her attitude. Whereas I don't always agree with her methodology or thinking, I can respect her and know that she will take care of business BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. She is truly a remarkable character. She reminds me a lot of a mixture of my family members. Sometimes you need a "take-no-sh*t" attitude to gain the fear (respect) of others. This show ranks #1 on my List. (others on my list include Justified and Spartacus: Blood and Sand) -rsharp17 https://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smi...orted/rock.gif |

BTW what do you mean by serialized? I like dialog driven shows as long as it is good dialog. I used to love Homicide:Life on the Street. Loved the scenes in the "box" with the perps. |

Serialized shows are ones that have major plots and storylines that develop over the course of the season or series.
Lost, Dexter, Heroes are examples. Other shows like Friends, Seinfeld, CSI, NCIS etc all are more examples of "Standalone" type shows. Ones where you can just drop in throughout the series and watch an episode or two and won't feel like you are picking up something in the middle of a huge story. A lot of people don't tune into serialized shows because networks tend to cancel things quickly, and they don't want to get involved in a show that won't have an ending (John Doe is a great example). Very similar to the way Friday Night Lights was done with Direct TV. |

Yeah I was saying before that there's no way they can really justify a fourth season, whether I'd love for there to be one or not.
However, with Direct TV or perhaps HDNET or something like that stepping in and helping cover the costs, or whatever.... that could work. Plus I agree with everything he said, as to the reasons it's hasn't done well. It IS a complex show that requires patience and an attention span. |
