Hello.
I have a Motorola HD PVR going to my Yamaha RX-V863 via HDMI then on to my Toshiba Regza 52 LX 177. It seems like the signal takes a long time to get through. There won't be any picture or sound for almost a minute, or more sometimes. I t didn't take that long when I first got it. I don't know if the tv or rcvr is to fault. I am wondering if this may be a situation that could get worse. Does anyone have any ideas or has heard of something similiar? Thank you! |

I have the previous year Yamaha model to yours, and probably the same Motorola HD DVR. My setup brings the picture and sound up within a couple of seconds. My guess is that you're experiencing a HDCP handshaking issue upon initiation.
First, I would double check your HDMI cable connections, and if that doesn't work, swap test it with another cable. Also, do you have your Yamaha set to upscale the signal to 1080p? If so, you may want to set the connection for the Motorola DVR to passthrough or 1080i. Your default signal from the cable provider is probably 1080i. If none of those solutions works, you might try swapping your Motorola HD DVR box with another one from your cable provider. I have Comcast, and they allow customers to swap for free if you bring it to the local customer service office. If you do swap it, be sure to ask for the most recent version, so they don't give you an older model. |

Thank you! I checked the connections, but didn't think to swap cables. I'll give that a shot. I didn't have the rcvr do the upscaling, I didn't like it and left it for the tv to do.I'm away for the weekend, but will try your suggestion sun or mon.
Have a great weekend! |

In this case, you might also try swapping to have the receiver do the upscaling. That may also improve your response time. |
