Re-Release (Via Vision, 2015):

Has anyone here purchased the Aussie release of Young Guns? I would be interested to know the specs, as I have the US Lionsgate release, which is a BD25 and has a bad rep regarding the PQ (I thought it looked ok)...

i've got the uk version from amazon uk and thought it was a huge improvement over the dvd.

Well I did some Q and A with a guy selling the aussie version of Young Guns on Trademe, and from what he tells me, it sounds like its an identical release to the US release (DTS HR, 25GB).

The Madman/Via Vision Entertainment disc (officially due out next week) is identical to the previously released local disc (minus the Blu-ray trailers), despite it stating that it has a DTS-HD MA 5.1 track on the back cover.

That's disappointing news. Maybe one day we'll get a good remaster and possibly part 2!

Getting a new release by umbrella in November, hoping for a port of the European transfer that doesn’t have jaggies.

Unfortunately the umbrella transfer seems to be sourced from the old liongate disc.
