Default The Official "HOORAY FOR FOX!" Thread

I know some won't agree, some are frustrated by Fox's withdrawal into the shadows earlier this year... some might be upset because some titles are getting delayed or that LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD will only be the PG-13 version...

But, dammit, I say "HOORAY FOR FOX!" Though it was nice that their guy delivered some ass kicking statements towards HD DVD at the BDA event these past couple of days, and that they have announced 100 titles for 2008 (!)... I am saying this just based on their recently released product...

All I have to say is WOW.

I have 28 DAYS LATER, 28 WEEKS LATER and THE FLY. Frankly, these discs are reference standard. 28 DAYS LATER, despite the nitpicking by some because of it's PQ not up to par with titles, say, like PLANET EARTH (this is because it was shot using a low resolution DV camera - can't blame Blu-ray for that!) -- and to which I say GET OVER IT -- it is a GREAT F***ING DISC.

28 WEEKS LATER looks and sounds AMAZING.

And THE FLY is reference standard for a catalogue title. Not many have discussed the quality of this title, and word really needs to get out as it's a great disc!

Just great, GREAT stuff from Fox! And looking forward to many more great titles!

Great product, and the tough talk to back it up! I can't ask for too much more from a studio! (Except for MAN ON FIRE please...)

The Fly looked damn good if you ask me, I saw all the detail on him when he was morphing into the creature and I must say it discussed me seein' it all in full detail but that shows they did there job in the movie looking good and making you to look away, but it made my wife hold me even tighter, so much props on that transfer as I said before.

FOX always gets made fun of but I love their movies, so I am ok playing the slight increase in price. To be frank I never really look at studio on amazon because i know I am getting a good price so why worry about studio I just want my fav movies.

Yeah - the detail on this transfer was a revelation. Absolutely recommended 100% if you're a Cronenberg fan or love horror in general.

I am a massive Blu-ray fan; the format is clearly superior in every dimension. But that won't stop me condemning Fox. Does everyone remember January 2007 when they announced all those lovely titles; Alien, Master and Commander, I Robot, 24 plus their MGM catalogue. What did we get? A cancellation note But when Paramount rebelled they re-issued the press release and wheeled out all the same titles again. Oh, but now they've all slipped again.

I don't believe a word they say now. They will announce the same titles again in a massive fanfare I'm sure. Sorry Fox but you have cried wolf to many times and I don't trust you anymore. Add to this the Die Hard scandal and it all turns into a farce I say.

Hey, I'm well pleased with Fox's titles so far. If I have to wait a bit longer for some titles, so be it. I'm looking forward to I, Robot and Master & Commander, but they are doing their releases a good service and I want the best product they can put out. Please feel free to disagree with me, but that doesn't change my opinion of Fox.

The PQ on Silver Surfer and Mr. Brooks is the best I have seen.

I'm happy with FOX...next year will be a far different and much better story. They'll bring you back Oblivion...don't worry...this time I think they're telling the truth, but please don't hold me to it.

All I know is that with 100 A List titles next year from FOX on top of Disney, Sony etc....I'm gonna go broke next year!

I won't be able to leave the house but at least I'll have lots of good movies to watch.

Don't forget that DTS-MA is standard on all Fox releases as well!!! That alone makes me a huge fan of their titles. The PQ is pretty outstanding as well, cant wait to see what those 100 titles are!

I totally agree. They really push the hardware and software forward with their movies. I complain about their prices. However, I always believe that their quality represents a premium over Warner.

In this case, you usually get what you pay for.

I just like their president Mike Dunn's candid comments blasting Paramounted for defecting, and the unnamed 800-pound gorilla (Microsoft) for trying to perpetuate the war... that was classic!

Fox are producing some of the best releases out including superiour audio. So what if some of their titles have been delayed. iRobot is going to get a much better release as a result. You would be giving out more if they released iRobot now and then in early 2008 with PiP. This is not a sprint. Its a Marathon!

High quality products, so I expected Fox's BDs to be priced higher. I got a few and will buy more for the holidays.

I hate bashing a company that's supposed to be in our side but I look everyday for a date on the 24 season 1 and nothing and no comment from fox.

Release what you said you was going to release and watch people buy your titles. There are 2 titles id stand in line for right now one is 24 the other is LOST. Thank god Disney is better releasing they're stuff on time. But come on Disney give us seasons 1 & 2 also.

I hope that Sony will realize they need to step up the PQ level on their releases to match the standard set by recent Fox releases. I expected SM3 to be at that level and unfortunately it wasn't. Bitrates in the mid 20's won't get them there.
