France Stargate Re-release

Just thought you'd like to know that Universal Studio Canal Video is re-releasing Stargate on BD on May 11th.

It seems like it'll be the same as the US version:

I wonder if it'll be any different to what Optimum Releasing put out in the UK from HMV (got it early ) or the Lionsgate version in the US.

The content on those 2 releases are almost the same (UK version is missing some special features that the US version has I think). The disc menus are slightly different (I know that for a fact). The artwork is almost exactly the same as each other with the caption under the BD banner being the only difference between releases.

Both have the theatrical cut and extended cut on single discs so you'll probably get all the same stuff on the French release.

Also, why Universal? They never had anything to do with the original production of the film.

It is supposedly reencoded in full 1080HP, however, without a HDTV larger than 19inches I am not able to see it in 1080HP.

The grain on the extended edition scene where Daniel Jackson and Colonel O'Neil escape on the Mastidge (big animal) from Ra's ship is now gone. Yay!

I would've liked to have seen it remastered fully though, especially when Ra's ship explodes above Abydos (sand planet, for those of you who are not complete Gaters like myself) as the explosion and planet are still fairly low-res when it is seen in orbit.

The BD is missing some bonus features from the 2-disc Directors Cut Region 1 DVD and UK Directors Edition DVD so if you have either of those (this BD is my 4th version of the Stargate movie that I own ) and want to have the extras featured on them, then you need to keep the DVDs after getting the Blu-Ray, which is annoying.

And, whoever writes the movie synopsis on the back of the various DVDs and BDs needs to do some research!

'Space and time'?!?

The stargate is not a freaking time machine (by default)!
That line appears on every one of the DVDs and the BD that I own and it really annoys me!

it is not a time machine, but it was brought to earth ages ago, and the people you see on the other side of the stargate are definitely ancient Egyptians,

so it is a time travel in a way

The lenticular cover is okay. Its a slipcase lenticular cover though so it may not last very long.
