I believe it is scheduled to be released this fall, probably October to coincide with Halloween.

Very nice...any word yet on whether that awesome BBC documentary is going to be included (from the 25th Aniversary DVD, but missing on The Version You've Never Seen)?

Other than licensing issues, there shouldn't be any real reason why it wouldn't be.

If the documentary is from the BBC, I would surmise its appearance is unlikely on the Blu-ray. Warner would have to pay licensing costs to the BBC as they do not own it, which usually leads to extras of that type being dropped on the BD.

I hope Friedkin doesn't pull another "French Connection" and pisses off the cinematographer.

That's exactly what I was thinking, though in certain cases it might actually be cheaper to license an existing piece of material than create a brand-new one (of that length) from scratch.

Still...yeah, I'm hoping, but not 100% positive we'll see it.

Nice! Saw it as an altar boy when I was 12...scared the hell out of me. Don't worry, priests were cool, no pedophiles tg They would have "disappeared" in my neighborhood anyway

Allegedly, this time he's working side-by-side w/the cinematographer.

my problem is that even with both cuts I still feel the bd will be ruined by the complete "new" color timing that FREAKMAN is intent on using to ruin all his films--like what he did with the "French Connection"
I highly doubt Warner will release a bd that has the original theatrical cut with the original color timing, and then offer the "version we don't want" with the newer color timing.
you just have to know it will be FREAKMAN'S "new" color timing so I'll be sticking with my 25th anniversary original theatrical version dvd.
no revisionist FREAKMAN re-colored crap for me.

I think Roizman will keep Friedkin in check while putting this disc together. He didn't like how French Connection turned out, that's why he is involved in the making of this disc. This movie is a very important piece of film history and needs to be preserved correctly.

Except that that doc, The Fear of God, was made with WBs assistance, since it was about the film. It did premiere on the BBC in 1998 in a 74 minute version, and the version on the WB DVD omits interviews with Mercedes McCambridge (why?) and James "then head of the BBFC" Ferman and runs 52 minutes. This version might well be on the BD, especially since it's rumored to be a Ultimate Collector's Edition.

The real question, is will it contain the real 'Theatrical' + 'Version You've Never Seen', or the '25th Anniversary Theatrical' + 'Version You've Never Seen'.... ?
