United Kingdom Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs Blu-ray 3D - 14th June

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 3D Blu-ray

Specs and artwork here

I think Blu-ray 3D is coming a little too fast, to be honest.

so they're using a see-through clear box instead of the blu box. Im not sure if i like it, however it makes it easier to differentiate from 2D/3D films

You are not alone their.

Will be interresting to see how this 3D at home will take off TBH.
Specially as it wasnt long ago people spent a load on normal HD gear, and now just a few years later to go buy a 3D TV, 3D Blu-ray player (unless you have a PS3), so many 3D Glasses and maybe even a 3D Amp thats compatible with the new HDMI specification?

Plus i find the idea of sitting at home wearing 3D Glasses, plain daft .

3D should be kept for the cinema only IMO.

From my experiences with 3d television in a home setting. It works wonders. I do wonder about the clear box though. What is going to diferentiate this packaging to ps3 software packaging? I'll be pre-ordering this once it's available to preorder. I had to the 2D version and in all honesty the lack of special features on this announced release in comparison to the 2D version doesn't bother me one iota.

Hopefully all this 3D nonsense means we get cheaper standard BRDs in the future.

I'm gonna ask a dumb question here, but if I bought this and tried to play it on my regular PS3, would it still playback in its 2D form? That's something I've not quite been able to understand. From what I hear, every 3D disc will playback in 2D form if played on a 2D player with a 2D tv.

This isn't a definitive answer but I would have thought that the same technology for playback would reside in a ps3.

Sony are putting 3D into its PlayStation 3's via a firmware upgrade in June. So the PS3 is future-proof in some sense to a normal BD player. But also with new firmware, four of Sony's previously released video games will put them in 3D also.

However you will still need to buy a 3D television for the technology to work. Also i don't think it will play the 2D version if you put a 3D disc in. I reckon a black screen will just show because the disc comes with both 3D and 2D versions (2discs)

Would that also mean that say when the Shrek films come out in 3D, assuming a 2D release hasn't happened yet, does that mean they will also come with a standard 2D blu-ray disc as well? Basically I'm asking if all these 3D films will also come with a 2D version as well.

Until the specs are announced for each release, you will never know. I think its a good bet that they will though

Thanks for posting. I like the transparent case and Blu-ray 3D logo.

I also agree that 3D is coming too fast after the jump to HD. We are not ready to invest again in a new TV, player and receiver just to get 3D. I wish 3D had launched simultaneously with HD, so that one investment would have sufficed. As it stands now, 3D will have to wait in our household.

Just got the 3D Blu-Ray disc from Amazon UK. I bought this disc because it would have Dutch audio & Dutch subtitles, this was mentioned on the Blu-ray.com website. Was a bit disappointed , here are the languages:
DTS-HA MA: UK & JAP. DD5.1: UK ADT, Chinese CANT, Chinese MAND, DAN, FIN, KOR, NOR, SWE & THAI. Subtitles in UK, UKHOH, CHIN, DAN, FIN, HINDI, INDONESIAN, JAP, KOR, NOR, SWE & THAI.
Good thing it's region A, B & C and from the main menu you can choose to watch the movie in 2D or 3D.
