Howdy, Titan, do you own this unit or are you just starting a thread about it? Just curious, I was hoping to hear some feedback about the unit. I have it's pre-amp counterpart in the PR-SC5507P, I have created a thread about it and have other users on the forum who own or are interested in it post to it. I am hoping/wondering that your doing the same. Well, keep it going as I'm curious about how my receiver "cousin" works out!

my thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/pre-pro-sy...ro-thread.html

my gallery: https://www.blu-ray.com/community/ga...ber=solarrdadd

good luck and keep it going, I'll monitor it from time to time because feedback about this unit (minus any amp/power issues) reflects mine as they are essentially the same unit, one with and one without an internal amp section.

Please keep us posted!

so you too have found a unit that is full of problems, can someone please give examples of what you mean by these issues/problems? I am curious, folks keep saying these things have lots of problems/issue without stating what any of the issue/problems are. Again, I'm just curious as to what they are.

All the issues I've read about are fried hdmi boards, handshake issues, audio dropouts. All the things I've read are swaying me away from the 3007. And the stinks cause on paper its an amazing receiver for the price its going for

They had some reason on the avs forum. The handshaking and some of the audio dropouts were because of the hdmi board. The rest of the audio dropouts were coming when ppl were bitstreaming thr audio codec. Which led me to believe that the player was the cause not the rewceiver

Ya, I hear a lot aboutthose problems too. My Onkyo 605 has those damn handshake problems really bad. Also a lot of "popping noise" issues. From my own experience with Onkyo and other peoples' many issues with them my next receives is likely going to be a Pioneer Elite later in the year.

Why buy an Onkyo 3007 when I can buy a Pioneer Elite SC-25 for a couple hundred dollars less?

guess i've been very lucky with Onkyo according to you folks. only issue with my 805 was the dts bomb, i emailed them, the next day they emailed me back that they had would send it to me (a firmware on cd with an optical cable and instructions) the next day if i confirmed my mailing address, i did and they did. updated my firmware, problem solved. i am also very happy with onkyo being my choice in pre-amps. i'm not saying onkyo hasnt had it's share of problems, cause i know it has but every brand has their share of problems, just ask some of the folks with the UMC-1 or the cancelled Outlaw (that's not a knock either but the truth is they are having their share of problems too) they will tell you.

not telling to buy an onkyo or not to buy one, just giving you my onpinion on the brand and my experience with them.

best of luck whatever you choose and yes, it's your choice.

I currently have the 607 and have had no issues, so I cant complain....I really just think that most of the ppl on the forums who havent had issues with their gear arent coming on to talk about it, its just the ppl who are having issues....and with the prices of the 3007 at 1k at places like accessories4less(with a full warranty) its a hard deal to pass up

My 805 hasn't had a single issue. When I got it, I sent Onkyo an email, asking about the dts bomb. I had sent them my serial number. They answered back saying my receiver had the newest firmware, therefore it didn't have the problem. My receiver also doesn't get hot, like everyone says that Onkyos do. It's on almost 18 hrs. a day, and so far, no extra heat. I guess I lucked up with my receiver (knock on wood)!

ya I heard it was really bad though. Like just doing fastforward or pausing would cause it to switch.

I owned three Onkyo receivers (2007 & 2008 models).
1. Do you think they runned hot? 2. Do you think they had flaws?

1. NO. Not a single bit (if you disable CEC control).
2. YES. Audio delay issues.

* Onkyo now (finally) had their receivers able to update from the Ethernet port. But only in their 2009 models. The 5007 looks quite nice.

...Story of my life...

That is a real nice beast! ...With EVERYTHING included. Even two separate subwoofer outputs that are individually adjusted by Audyssey MultEQ XT, very cool! ...Audyssey DSX, HQV Reon-VX, Dolby Volume, THX Ultra2 Plus certification, ISF certification, Ethernet upgradeable, Music streaming, USB port, ... Not to mention a solid amplification section with great parts in the digital section, and it's heavy too, which means very good.
