Default Onkyo Receiver value??

I'm an average guy with an average receiver budget. Onkyo 806 for $617 or the 706 for $512. Is the 806 worth it in your opinions??

I'm not sure you even need the 706 for your current speaker setup. The 606 may be one you want to look at.

I would suggest the 806. Several of its problems have been fixed and it's still a decent reciever. This one won't leave you with the urge to upgrade down the road. If you do end up getting better speakers, you'll have a decent AVR to drive them. To me the 806 opens up so much more possibilites in my opinion. I think it's worth it spend the extra $100 dollars. Wait another couple of weeks and the price will drop even more.
