Default Choosing a Plasma

Which one of these should I get? They all seem similar.
PN50C540
TCP50G25
PN50B650

I have a 32" Samsung LCD right now from 2008 and want to upgrade.

For best PQ: B650, which is also considered to have the best blacks amongst all samsungs last year. careful with the buzz, though

Highest quailty: G25, by far the best at handling image retention. THX seems to be fixed in the 2010 models, but a floating blacks issue.

I have been enjoying the G25 for about a week now. The picture is excellent. My last set was a Sony KDL40V3000 LCD. Good luck shopping and keep us posted.

We are about to upgrade to the Pansonic TC-P54G20. Found out through the Panasonic Representative that the G20 and the G25 are virtually identical -separated for marketing purposes to distinguish which model is being sold exclusively by which distributor and one additional obscure jack (which I have forgot what it was for - didn't seem important to us). So if you are hunting around for a comparison thought this info might be helpful as far as Panasonic HDTVs go. Not interested in 3D HDTV myself. Also, have heard about the Samsung buzz, too. Happy hunting.

I suggest the Pannu TCP54G20 it's better than Sammy's IMO and you won't have the Buzzing problem they have

Default LCD vs. Plasma

Can anyone tell me the main differences between Plasma and LCD? I have heard Plasmas have a higher rate of beaking down. What are the pluses of a Plasma?

Well A plasma was before the 2010 models a TV used for dark room. Here are the good sides of Plasma.

Deeper black levels
No viewing angle restrictions
Better Picture quality than LCD
Faster response time
Longer Lifespawn
No Motion Blur....

It all depends on what you want to do with your TV

i am also in the market for a plasma. recently picked up the Samsung PN50B850. I liked the pq, but had alot of problems with image retention. i use to own an LCD so this is extra anoying to have to deal with since i previously had NONE. so im thinking of returning it and going with a panny (since they seem to be good for not having those burn in issues) just confused as to which model id like to go with. ive narrowed my options down to the following:

Samsung PN50B850

Panasonic TC50S2

im concerned about the whole rising black level thing from panasonic and havnt herd too much regarding samsung in that dept. any recommendations. advice for my decision?

Well for the Rising black levels thing you have to take some and let some go, I was also very scared to buy a PAnny because of that issue but reading a lot and caught a couple of times articles where they stated that even if the black levels rised the PQ and black Level was still better than Sammy or LG's.

Also Panny made ajustements to their 2010 models, the rising black will still occur but will be more gradual like all other plasma are set for, this was just an error in the programming of the 2009 models. Also all Plasma with time the black rises a bit it's normal. the black level problem became bigger than it should have been and all Plasmas have the same problem.

Anyways what is your buget

but the thing is i cant be sure that the 2010 models will be fixed from this prob. plus cnet lowered their review on the panny tvs and the samsung one is actually rated higher. my budget is $1500

I am in a similar situation. I'm sure the Panny debate will continue for awhile yet. But I plan to enjoy my HT sooner than later. After confering with my local electronics shop and comparing several plasma sets including Panny, I've decided to seriously give LG a shot with their 550 or 750 series. Once calibrated they look pretty darn good. At least to my 20/20s...
