Pirates 2 in 07 at some point. Disney really wants to bring out big titles like that on loaded BD50 discs with a lot of the extra features that the BD format is capable of.

Miami Vice is Universal studios. Univeral is HD-DVD's lone exclusive studio.

So, I'd say you'll see Miami Vice on BD in about 6-12 months or so.

If the past month has anything to do with it, I would say that statement is quite belivable. The people who thought the PS3 wasn't going to have any effect on BD sales were fooling themselves. Universal is watching the BD sales and is eventually going to realize how much money they are losing out on.

And in the end Universal might have created double format double dipping jeopardy, and make some coin out of it. (At the rate they are pumping out titles on HD-DVD that's what I think they're counting on) (Well they have to make up for only having 10% of the box office somewere!)

Hey Uni I'll be glad to help you, if you release all the Universal monsters in pristine 1080 x 1485p BDs transfered directly from the original nitrate negatives or existing surviving elements, ya know. Oh and a David Lynch approved double BD-50 disc edition of D U N E. (Hey the melange tinged eyes will match the case this time! )

There aren't too many Universal titles that I am dying to have but, I would most definately welcome them to the party.

I would be getting:
King Kong
The Mummy
Fast and The Furious Titles
Miami Vice

I thought about going out and getting a HD-DVD drive for my X360, but decided to wait until next year when Uni announces dual-format support.

I think in the UK it they are distributed by UIP which is a 50:50 company for Paramount and Universal. So there is a chance that the series may be released internationally.

So was one of the reasons pirates not out yet is so they can hope people double dip? I am patient (now) I will wait for the blu-ray version.

So where are you seeing sales figures? The only one I know of is that dvdwars about amazon, and that still has BD pretty low (at least 3 min. ago).

You look new, The DVDwars site is biased, lets not hijack another thread in its honour, if you want to know more about said website use the the search function, or go to this thread.

If you can gather only one thousand of format royalist on Amazon purchase, you can actually bias this sales rankings well. Because the number of the sales is only around 20,000 with a most popular title in the North American highf-def format market even in its release week.

And as you know, most fanatic HD DVD supporters are living in internet world, purchasing via net shops.

I work at a Best Buy store, where I am able to look at the sales of any store I would like. I go to about 3 different places to buy BDs and they are all suggesting the same thing. BD sales are ramping up and titles are selling out. HD-DVD player sales are almost non-existant in most locations due to the fact that many places dont have any to sell. People everywhere know that the PS3 is a BD player, and the PS3 has definately made an impact on BD movie sales.

Hey Deci, can you clarify on resolution? Why 1485 and not 1920? I thought 35mm film negative were scanned 2x4K, so where does the number 1485 come from?

Pitch Black and Chronicles
Mummy and Scorpion King would be interesting as well.

I am guessing due to the 1.37:1 aspect ratio.

Damn, those aspect ratios. I have 2:39 for having those bars on mhy TV, 1.85 is nice, fills the screen completely. Why can't they agree on single thing..
