Default Blu section growing in BB

I went to a brand new BB yesterday and they had a whole aisle only for Blu-ray movies and only about 1/8th of a section for HD-DVD movies. Since I'm getting my first Blu player this xmas (PS3), my wife was amazed at how many movies were out for this format. Finally, she was convinced that Blu-ray was the way to go. To quote Sony - Without Blu-ray, your HDTV is just a TV.

Good news but doesn't mean much until they start lowering their prices.

well just be thankful you are not paying for the list price(the original price before BB makes their price) plus if you get the movies when the week they come out you save a couple of bucks to a few bucks

My BB in NJ had what i would consider the same for both....

4 aisles of HD dvd + an end cap
5 aisles of Blu (we do have more movies out there) + plus a stand alone middle section (one side blu, the other side Dvds)

I bought spidey to support even though i didn't really want to. But its good to hear that other BB's might be leaning to blu

True, but 25-33% more (including sales tax rate) than the likes of Amazon and others, it is still relatively high. Really anyone who charges MSRP in a media format (excluding games) will never sell anything, just too much price competition.

Your average uneducated consumer will go with the format with the most titles. Especially moms, etc. shopping for Xmas.

but with amazon you will receive it in like 2 to 3 weeks if you are lucky for me i want the movie now and not have to pay some stupid shipping and handling which in the end is almost the same price when you think about it

but thats a good thing even though like at my best buy the hd-dvd side is almost as big as the blu-ray side but if the moms find out Disney supports Blu-Ray well we know what will happen

To each his own...I only buy multiple Blu-rays at a time and get free shipping and the longest it has ever taken to get to me is 4 days. I am they type of person who would rather take the few extra days and save 5-7 dollars. Multiply this x30 blu-rays I have bought from Amazon.com and that would be a savings of $150 - $210. But again that is just me and I am all about buying for the cheapest in the end price.

I agree lower prices would help more..but having a substantial larger number of titles on display sends another message that blu is the choice..even if they go hunting somewhere else for pricing.

It is 5 to 3 in favor of Blu now in Seattle. Also, they are running more specials and now you can also find many more titles than you use to be able to. All good!

SAme here in south florida. It would be better if the prices were better, but it is good to see that they are growing quickly.

Confirmed three locations in Denver, CO they have 8 sections for Bd with only 3 for HDDVD. This was however before the $99 HDDVD craze and through Saturday...who knows if HDDVD will now have more sections.

For HDDVD-ers who think I am lying, send someone in the Denver area to the Denver "Colorado Blvd/I-25" store, the "Westminster" Store and the new Aurora store by "I-70 and Salida." All 3 stores have 8 sections of BD movies as of Saturday, compared with 3 only from HDDVD.

These are only 3 stores I checked as I was buying GHIII, Cellphone car charger, and some BD movies from Wednesday thru Saturday, there are still 5-6 more stores in the Denver area, AND PROBABLY ABOUT 20-30 in the Colorado area.

No I do NOT go to stores to specifically see if they carry more HDDVD or BD, thats insane and ULTIMATE FANBOY-ish!!! If you're there already take a peek and see whats up!

Looked at two BB's in RIC. Both have equal spaces for Blu and DUD. Three "sections" each. Not including any endcaps or other displays.
