Default Startling Data: Are Men 32% more productive than Women?

http://blog.rescuetime.com/2010/05/0...ve-than-women/

Quote:
Our data shows women only work 76% of the time that men do. Interestingly, the National Committee on Pay Equity found that women earn 77% of what their male counter parts do.
I thought this article was interesting.

I guess..

My wife is considerably more productive than her male bosses who make 4x the money she does. If it weren't for her the school would have shut down the automotive program years ago.

One thing that's a fact is that women do typically miss more days of work than men. The main reason is because of kids.

Just when a woman gets pregnant, look at all of the days they miss for doctor appointments, and when the baby is born they take weeks or months off in maternity leave (sometimes weeks or months before the baby is born too). When that child gets sick, most of the time it's the mother that takes time off work to take the child to the doctor, dentist, etc.

Not saying it's right or wrong (I think fathers should be more involved), but it is a factor in these surveys.

It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it.

Hmm, the caption you provided says 'work' but the thread title says productivity. What if women were found to be twice as productive per unit time than men?

there's a book i'm about to start reading called "why men make more, and what women can do about it". i heard a break down of it a while ago and it basically goes through and shows with raw data, not opinion, that women take fewer risks, are not as willing to work hard dangerous or uncomfortable jobs, and are frequently less reliable then men. i think it's true. there are exceptions to the rule, but there are far more who fit the stereotype. and the reason they are that way is because they're taught to be that way from an early age. i bought the book hoping to gain some insight in raising my daughter to be the exception to the rule.

You are aware that the author takes a contrarian view to those of feminists on the subject of pay scale, right?

As a parent, you're free to instill whatever values you deem suitable, to embolden them with the skills and attitude to change (or reinforce) commonly held social perceptions, and while your intentions are admirable, it is a numbers game, and any attempt to fragment (much less shatter) the long held beliefs and power structure of the good ol' boys club will be met with fierce resistance.

I love Martha Stewart's public persona, but behind closed doors, she has been characterized negatively by those who work for her and by the press; commonly used adjectives include ruthless, callous, ironfisted, vicious, heartless, and the list continues. It is a fine line to draw between empowering someone to cope with the challenges of the real world and becoming Martha's spiritual successor.

I thought this article was interesting.
The part about men earning more on an average in general than women is true. But for being productive, women I believe is more productive at home than men while men is more productive at work.
