This was originally posted in the Home Theater Display Discussion forum but as suggested, this might be a better place for it.
I have a reasonably tall screen on my computer (1080) and the first page of the section is filled with stickies. Isn't there a better way or place to put those "Custom Display Settings" things? Perhaps a separate discussion section that contains just FAQs and stickies? While some people may find the information useful, it does take away from the rest of the forums topics and questions as they are relegated to off screen or "below the fold" so to say. There's also the fact that the information, while could be a good starting point or reference, is hardly scientific since calibration settings are not absolute and depend on many variables. |

yes, I have asked that the "share your display settings" be put into its own little folder....but at the moment have to keep them in display section.
I completely agree with you, unfortunately not in my hands. ![]() Im trying to get a 'subforum' in the display section similar to the PSP subforum in the PS3 section...have to give it some time. |

We didn't expect threads for ALL brands, just the top brands so I guess that's the reason we didn't see the need for its own sub-forum. We were also a bit wary that putting these threads in their own subforum would hide them away and they wouldn't get a fair chance to get started. The idea is/was to start out with stickies and if the need arose we would move them to their own subforum. I guess we'll have to reconsider this already

I agree that if they were in a sub-forum they might be harder for newer users to find them. In turn making them counter productive, because alot of new threads would be started asking the same questions. Which is already a problem because people don't look around that good for answers before they initiate a thread.
I really do think however that new users should have to be stuck in some form of training and FAQ threads untill they achieve a certain amount of posts so that they learn how to make better use out of this site. I only say this using myself as an example. This is the first forum that I have been a part of and because of a (originally started as a joke I suspect) thread titled posting and you. I have still never had to start my own thread as I tend to find all the info I need with a minimal amount of searching. I think the stickies are a grand idea, and they only become a nuisance if you don't realize that at the bottom of the page you can go to page 2 ![]() Last edited by Blu-Beard; 02-11-2008 at 10:03 PM. |

Perhaps one sticky that takes you to the other stickies, similar to how the feedback forum as an item right on the top for "bugs"?
