Talking DVR file transfer

Hey guys me again with another newbie tech question. Is it possible to take files from my DVR and transfer them to an external hard drive or what kind of equipment is needed to actually accomplish this. There are constantly some great old movies that have been upgraded to 1080i that I would love to keep cause they are taking up most of my free space on the DVR I just don't know if this is possible to do or if I gotta just delete them.

It depends upon your DVR device. Cablevision here in Connecticut allows you to move files to an external harddrive. Not all are like this. Contact your service provider, they will be able to answer this question best for you.
