Default The Ultimate "Setting Bookmarks" Thread

I'm fairly new to BD, about 9 months as of this writing, and for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to set bookmarks on BDs by CERTAIN studios.

And so, I'd like to make this a FAQ thread for all those out there, noob and veteran, who may like to know how to set bookmarks on their pesky BDs.

Now I know that most studios allow the Green button to be used, but for some studios, I can't for the life of me, figure it out.

In particular, how do you set bookmarks on Disney/Touchstone BDs? The title in question now as I write this is Armageddon.

Now for the most part I know how to set the bookmarks, but I have no clue how to retrieve them. In for a clue.

I'm glad finally someone opened a bookmark thread. I thought I was the only one in the whole planet that used them!....Well, we all know that one of the setbacks for Blu is the inability to resume playback on java loaded discs. However bookmarks is a very nice feature although it could be a little confusing on some discs depending on the studio. Currently, Universal, Paramount and Sony has this feature. The all use the green button to bookmark and to resume you'll need to go to Scenes and find your bookmarks there to resume. Universal store their bookmarks under the 'Extras". With Sony, you can just hit the yellow button and your bookmark will automatically pop on the screen for you to select and resume (which I think is really cool). Warner has pissed me off lately though. They used to include the bookmark option on their releases, i.e Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but for whatever reasons ($$$$) they have decided to drop that option from recent releases. C'mon Warner! Why??? You are still charging a premium the least you can do is give us the options we need!

Feel free to ask any questions. I love the bookmark option and I know how to use them in all of the different studios releases.

For Universal movies you can also pause the movie and it'll bring up your bookmarks.

Now that I didn't know. Now is this during playback or what?

Somewhere I read that pressing the '1' button on your remote's number keypad would set a bookmark, but I don't remember for which studio that was for. I tried it with the Disney title, and it didn't work, so I'm still at a loss for that one.

Actually the damnest BD I've ever seen is the Skynet Edition of T2. That frakkin' thing is complicated. I was too far away from the screen to read the on-screen text, but I eventually got it going from my bookmark. Don't know what I did, however.

Some you access from the Scenes Menu with a specfic selection called "Bookmarks" or "Your Scenes" or some such, others you access from the film being in Pause mode during playback. The bookmark will be somewhere along the movie progress bar at the bottom of the screen. You just use your arrow keys to navigate to it/them and then of course, hit Enter.

And then for Universal discs, you apparently can make clips of your favorite scenes, by first pressing the Green Button to set the start point, and then the Blue button (I think) to set the end point. Never done this, but I thnk that's the way it works.
