Default Recieving DVD's instead of BD as gifts

Hey,

Curious about something here. I get the word out when family members ask me what I want for X-mass and point them to my amazon wish list for example. However,.. I think I may continue to get DVD's as gifts if people are less "in the know" about Blu Ray.

Last year,.. I returned all my DVD's I got as gifts and bought Blu Ray's instead. That may sound in-sensitive but if something is available on Blu Ray there's no way I'm interested in watching the DVD version.

So,.. if you get DVD's in your stocking,.. whatcha gonna do?

My family pretty much assumes I have all the DVDs I want, so they dont guess. And if they do want to buy me one, they ask, and I provide them with an Amazon link to the specific product, so no confusion should happen.

I believe the only person that it's possible I would get a movie from for Christmas is my girlfriend...and since she hears me rant constantly about blu-ray...I'm pretty sure she would get me something blu. Luckily she also keeps up with my collection, so she probably wouldn't get me something I already had as well.

The rest of my family either gives me money, or nothing.

(all the sudden I had "money for nothing and my chicks for free" run through my head)

Well I made sure everyone knows that I want Blu-ray. But there are movies out there I want that are not on Blu-ray so I might get a DVD or two. If that happens, depending on the movie, I will live with it. If there IS a BD version, I will only consider exchanging it IF it is a movie I deem worthy of HD. If it is not, I will stay with the DVD. Of course if it is not on BD, I will only buy the BD when it comes out if I deem it worthy of HD. Otherwise I'd stick with the DVD.
(i.e. I don't need to see The Tick on Blu-ray)

Everybody knows not to get me movies. They all know that I get everything I want the week it comes out, so there is no point. Cash will do just fine.

I've told the family to just get me Futureshop gift cards. I'm very easy to shop for.

I already got Transformers on DVD as a gift. I am keeping it because I know I can't convert ALL my movies to BD. Some DVD is inevitible. But it's not me buying it.

The only other DVD I want is Shrek 3. My family knows everything else has to be blu-ray.

I usually get gift cards from places like BB or CC. But if I get a SD DVD and it's available on blu ray, hello Best Buy customer service desk for an exchange.

I've already groomed my family and most of my friends on Blu-ray. (They were all awed too when they saw it in action!) So I do not expect to get any DVD's this winter. My birthday and Christmas are next month and I made it quite clear that there are no DVD's on my list, only Blu's!!! If I get any DVD's, they will be returned as there are 4 or 5 must-haves coming out in the first week next year!
