Default 1080p display

I'm currently using a Sony Bravia KLV-32V300A LCD-TV which I think is 720p, and ps3 60Gb as blu-ray player. I noticed that for both blu-ray and dvd's, the tv display 1080p, except for some special features included in some discs. Is my tv just actually upscaling the 720p native resolution to 1080p? Or it is really capable of 1080p display? The ps3 is connected to the tv via hdmi 1.3a compliant cable.

It will recognize a 1080P source but it is not capable of displaying a 1080P source in full 1080. Read this.

yes, it takes the 1080 feed and downconverts it to 720.

Smile Thanks 4 d reply

Thanks for replying to my query. I'm a new member, although I've been reading the discussions for some time now and I really learned a lot from you guys. So I concluded that since my tv also displays in the upper left hand corner "1080p" when I play regular dvd's, the ps3 is merely upscaling the video. Anyway, it still looks great both for blu-rays and dvds.

Again, thanks a lot guys.
