Default HDMI sound problem.

Hi everyone.
I have one problem and would be extremely thankfull if anyone could help me.

I have 1 of the newer getaway notebooks, and when connecting my laptop hdmi out to hdtv hdmi in, I can see the picture on TV, but no audio.

The weird think is that everythink worked fine before I installed windows 7 on the Laptop. Tried other hdmi too, so its not an hdmi problem.

P.S. I went to playback devices, and it just doesnt show hdmi icon, only speakers, headphones, and spdif digital audio, so I cant select hdmi icon as default. And I did select to show disabled devices, but stilll, nothing.

This seems to be a very common problem with other users too, so I searched on-line for answers, but no definite solution is given for this problem.

Have you gone and downloaded the latest drivers for your sound card?

No, not really, I thought the laptop (windows 7) does all the downloads automatically, doesnt it?
Yeah, and I tried downloading them when I go to control panel, device manage, and click on my hdmi interface and it says the driver is up to date.

Try this Plug in your HDMI to TV & Computer Then shut the computer off. When you restart it will usualy bring up a sound window.I think there is one setting to change or maybe not depends on computer. This worked for me & my son.You just have to do it only once.

Hello Marcus. Don't ever assume that an OS(Windows 7) will download anything other than security updates from Microsoft period. Now, you should go to your laptops manufacturer's website or your manual and find out who makes those embedded sound drivers. Then go to that sight and sometimes they may have more up-to-date drivers for the on board audio. What is the model of your laptop if you don't mind me asking?

Another thing is that on many occassions I've come across with system builds is at times with HDMI the video will pass through fine, but the audio will have to pass through the sound card. See if you can try sound out from the laptop via audio cable and hook that up seperately with the HDMI cable hooked as well for the video. Let us know what happens and good luck.

First download all the latest drivers from you're manifacturer and model.

If you can, download the Graphics Card Drivers from the manifacturer (either ATI, Nvidia or Intel) because it's this driver you will output Audio.

Now you did right, select the HDMI OUTPUT in the SOund menu of Windows, configure it (for you're speaker, number of them etc..) and you should be good. I configured a number of PC like that and they all work as they should..
