Well the best way will be in about 25 hours when you take the ratio of the #2 Blu-ray for the week (The SM trilogy) and multiple it by 130,000 based on the HMM Nielsen numbers.

well when you say that numbers that arent equal means its a tie.....who can you fault people for saying youre here for the wrong purposes.

I can put anything i want in my signature....I own a PS3, long live blu, etc. but youre going to be judged on your posting history and credibility of the aforementioned.....so dont start shouting mindless crap about 130k equalling 110k and expect people to just smile and say "aw, new guy is just playing devils advocate"....no, so dont start trying to twist the people calling you out on foolish comments into some crazy diehards.

110k does not = 130k thus its not a tie.

Why ar epeople excited? Because Toshibas mantra is attach rates...they discard the PS3.....so when any title sells better, regardless of the PS3 it looks better for our format. If this title shows it has legs and doesnt fall off the table like transformers did, it means good things.

You talk about being able to debate things....youre trying to debate that 110 and 130 are equal...yet you act like th epeople calling you out are crazy? Right. So just throw in youre condescending republican and democrat comment or your "you want to here that BD is amazing" and hold your head up high because you are clearly more logical and sane for argueing that 110k and 130k are equal. you win.

Im not going to be angry at someone just because they are "dud" and embrace someone saying stupid things because they are "blu member"

You should be judged on your posts. period.

Overall, we'll just have to wait and see what the numbers say tommorrow.

1. If the 130k includes box sets, then I think it's disappointing sales
2. Spidey 3 was the holiday title to own, there's not other way to say it.
3. I can't see Rat doing 130k, I think those that are guaging amazon are not using an accurate barometer.

to be honest i'm actually surprised SM3 outsold TF at all, especially considering the numbers did not include boxed sets and ps3 bundles. considering that sm3 is considered by many to be the weakest of the series and many ppl already own the first two on dvd, it's not surprising it only sold 130k. i bought the trilogy myself so i'm not being counted in the 130k either. i thought it's still worth picking up on disc b/c i can chapter skip all the parts i hated when i saw it in the theaters.

i'd expect Rat to sell more than SM3. it's a new title, it's not part of a trilogy, it caters to kids, it garnered much better reviews, and it's not coming in several different packages. coming on the heels of many ppl buying the spidey trilogy might hurt it tho, as well as being released alongside Cars.

you underestimated to power of Pixar and 'Get 10$ off when you buy Cars + Ratatouille'

Ratatouille was critically acclaimed, Spider 3 was destroyed by Critics..

If it includes the box set then yes I agree it is somewhat disappointing. I do think it will sell well in the remaining 7 weeks of the year too though.

I'm personally very curious on the Rat. All accounts seem to suggest it could be selling as well or better. A lot of people seem to think that only people with kids will be buying it though. I am certainly not a kid and am buying it for myself and my wife. I do have kids and they have already seen it in the theatre but my wife and I never have and I am really looking forward to it.

There is all those 40GB PS3s with free Spidey3. Otoh, lets also not forget the free CR that went with the UK PS3s. Noone ever counted those either (and they shouldn't), but it must have decimated UK sales of CR since that was so early in the life of BD and not enough players are around in UK.

It beat TF by at least 15k actually. Also haven't we been hearing for week snow about how Spidey 3 sucked and wouldn't come close to TF, which was such a better movie. Spidey also got dragged down by the box set.

You can spin it all you want, but this is great news and it will continue to sell unlike HD-DVD whose movies all die instantly except PE.

I think thats the thing right there that is super important. If BD titles can show they have legs it will be HUGE for this holiday, as the residual sales could be massive with the PS3.

I agree. Even on this forum, we heard several voices tell us not to expect that the individual Spidey3 would surpass Trans. But it has, even using 6 days and not 7 days of sales. We heard several voices on this forum a few weeks ago tell us not to expect Blu to beat Red the week that Transformers appeared. But Blu won, not just the first week but the week after that when several voices again told us that we'd all spent most of our money on BOGOs the week before and wouldn't have enough purchases to counter the second week of Trans.

Why is it that some of these pessimistic voices keep repeating the same pessimistic tenor when, each week, the numbers contradict that continued pessimism?

I have to admit, you people get on my nerves. It's like a bunch of skittish childish who've had their balls cut off.

1. It doesn't include the box set. Even if it did, we've been hearing for weeks from folks on here how great TF was and how Spidey 3 would never match it even if we included the box set and add-in. TF was a great movie and it wasn't the last of a trilogy like Spidey and Blah this and BLAH that. I knew it would win. It did win, and now I'm suppoed to be disappointed? Whatever, you can be disappointed on your own, but I understand the math.

2. Spidey 3 is NOT THE holiday title to own any more than POTC 3 or Ratatouille or The Simpsons or Superbad, or this or that. Most people thought it would disappoint. It didn't.

3. And I can't see you being right on anything. Wrong again.

What's the "if" for? When has a big BD title not had legs?

I hope tomorrow numbers will show us if Spiderman 3 from boxset is included or not included in nubers..., I trying to think very very positive so hopefully 130k number is for Spiderman 3 without boxset..

My point exactly. All you have to do is follow the math and the pessimism fades. A lot of the people on here are the kind who go to bed at night saying to themselves, "Gee, IF the sun rises tomorrow then maybe things will be OK."

That is true, i suppose. I just meant an increased amount. like say, hover around 7 or 8k rather than 2 or 3k like 300 and CR.
