Default PS3 restore question

Ok since im having a problem with my PS3 not playing any disk, Im planning on restoring the PS3 system which will delete all of my downloaded files. I have a question though, one of my downloaded files is a game that I bought, can I still re download this for free after im done restoring since I paid for it already? thanks

It should be saved under your account yes. I think all you have to do is go to your account in the PS Store and go to purchases or something like that and then re-download.

Go to Account Management, there is an option there to view everything you've ever downloaded and you can download titles you have paid for up to 4 times I believe.

So you should be absolutely fine to reset your PS3 then download everything again.

If you do a Full Restore, do you need a backup file or is it saved on the PS3 already and it will just load it from there? I am thinking I have to do a full restore (not a big deal since I don't have anything saved really) to get a disc working again. But I don't want to select the system restore and have it just not work after that point because I didn't create a backup.

I think you might also want to try to clean it too. Use a compressed air canister on the vents and a low powered vacuum on them too. Make sure to wipe it down every so often as well. It might help if the restore doesn't. Good luck.

Back it up! Always, back up your data before doing any kind of restore! Also, I don't know if I'd use the canned air. I've read that can over-rev your fan and void your warranty.

i think they allow you to download for 5 times. but the best thing to do it to delete anything you don't want, then back it up. restore the ps3, then restore the backup. the downloaded games will still be there, and it won't reduce the number of times you are allowed to download the games. that is what i did recently.

Oh I clean it every week. I don't think I have to work about cleaning the vents as I put electrical tape over them.... KIDDING!!! But seriously I do keep it extremely clean.

But there's nothing I really need to restore as far as things I've saved. The only thing i have is resistance which I have saved on a memory card. Other than that, there's nothing. So if I did the restore, would I still need to back it up?

I mean if you bought games online, you have a limit to download it up to 5 times. rather than using its limit, you delete anything that you don't want from PS3, then back-up everything you want. that way, you have a nice clean ps3 with games that you want. you won't even use that limit, and you got your harddrive defragmented (I think)

I've never actually bought any games online. I've only played Demo's which I don't care about losing. Luckily, I wont have to do this though because I found out how to get around the problem I've been having.
