Help! Why saved games that were backed up did not restore? - Blu-ray Forum

I backed up my 80gb because the saved files for MS: pacific rift, high velocity bowling, and rockband 2 were locked. Well, when I restored my 160gb w/ the new files those files still didn't transfer. I thought that backing it up and restoring is the the what you had to do to move these files over? Does it have to do w/ the fact that it was to a different ps3? Please help me someone.

I believe it's because it's a different PS3.

make sure the USB drive was FAT32 formatted

the backup is to transfer back to the same PS3 after a hard drive upgrade.....will not work from one PS3 to another........sorry.......

so since we're on the subject, i can back up my 320gb internal PS3 drive, and upgrade to a 500gb internal drive same ps3 and restore all 320gb of data on there?

Ya it worked transfering the saved game data just not the locked ones. I will just move the bedroom ps3 into the livingroom when company comes over and we play rockband2. That is until I can restart my career and get the same songs unlocked on the new ps3. Thanks for the help

Yeah, that works fine.

IMO, the copy protected save games are a really bad idea. If the only reason they're doing it is to protect the integrity of the trophies, I'd rather they get rid of the trophies.

its a stupid idea. Ive already had my ps3 die on me, so I was pissed off when I realised I cant manually back up saves like RE5
