what is the longest you've left your playstation 3 on and running for? that includes game playing, movie watching, folding @ home, listening to music, everything but sleep mode.
I've had my 2 PS3s running non stop for 3 days now. one running folding@home and the other playing games, music, movies, and folding@home. the one running folding non stop has actually heated the bedroom noticeably, which is nice as its been getting a little chilly for san diego. i'm especially interested to see what some of the big folding@home people have to say. i'm looking at you aaron with over 180 work units. i searched to see if this had been discussed with no luck. |

My PS3 has been running pretty much constantly since the PS3 folding agent was released (save for a couple of power failures). 671 WUs so far.

My electric bill usually runs between $90-135. I'm stationed in South Carolina and the cost of living is insanely cheap. I can't find the article now, but I once read that if you were to leave your PS3 running for an entire year, it would cost you $60 or so--at least, that's what I think I read. |

I have had my PS3 running continuously since the firmware update on March 24th that installed folding@home. When my PS3 is not playing games or playing blu-ray movies, it is running at 100% CPU utilization performing complex protein folding.
![]() So if that ain't a stress test, i don't know what is! (588 work units, btw) |

I've been a little afraid of leaving the PS3 running nonstop, mainly cause of thing I've heard about the 360 and also cause it heats up a lot. Most it's been on was a whole night, and that was cause I forgot to turn it off.
I's been wanting to join the folding at home team, so I guess I shouldn't worry anymore and just leave it running like a PC. |

Mine has only been off when I lose power. Trying to remember when I got it, probably right when I joined this site.

Haha yeah there are some PS3 servers(running games like Warhawk, or Folding @ Home) that have been on since those products came out.

I know the PS3 is a very capable machine, but ive personally never left mine on for more than 4-5 hours at a time. No way i would leave it on for as long as some of yall do. I mean i leave my PC on 24/7 but ive built it to run that way. it stays at 17 degree's Celsius.

![]() Sorry it took me so long... ![]() ![]() Quick question- im sending the PS3 in for repair soon. I dropped it... the fan cover smashed off, and the power sensor is so dented you cant even push it. I need to use a controller, the PSP, or a disk to turn it on. ![]() Anyways! Will i need to restart all my folding units? Ill be sending it in AFTER rock band comes out, simply cause if on November 20th it still isnt repaired, it would result in suicide ![]() Anyway. yeah... folding, Repair, Start over, Answer? ![]() Thanks! -Ninja! EDIT: Alright. I was playing Warhawk about 5 mins ago, and the PS3 froze. All of a sudden i heard a "Clicking" noise inside of the console, so i got up and flicked the back switch (my only option of shutting it off- no power button). I restarted the console... Nothing. just more clicking. The red light on the front of the console started flashing at me, basically letting me know that its screwed. Im having high doughts sony'll repair this. It was technically my own fault that it dropped... Wonder how much they'll charge. ![]() Anyone by chance know? Possibly even how long it would take? The psp took about 5 days when i had to get it repaired, but that was covered under warranty, so i dont know how much they would have charged me. Dammit... Any help appreciated. Feel free to pm me...
