They are HD-DVD exclusive, which means they like losing money think they want to stay HD exclusive too, guess Toshiba is left another suit case at Universals front door.

just as paramount, they are hd dvd exclusive..... beware..... paramount got paid to support hd dvd exclusively, while BD exclusive backers don't get paid, and their reason is that it's better technology

Right now, Universal is HD-DVD exclusive as everyone as said already. There are rumors that they might be considering going neutral sometime next year, but the fact is, right now their CEO seems to hate Blu-ray and refuses to accept that it is a Blu-world. So until they fire his ass, we won't see them on Blu until everyone else is and he has no choice.

Yes, Universal has been hanging out with Panasonic at a Blu-ray factory.

But alas, it is another unfounded rumor. Without a credible source, they might as well have said that Moon Base Alpha is Blu-ray exclusive.
When there is a credible source with that kind of information, then I will take it seriously, until then it is only a rumor.

Besides, it doesn't mean they are going Blu. Maybe they just want to steal Blu-ray secrets

What I like best about this forum is that if there are rumors of any BD studios going HDDVD, its FUD. If its HDDVD studios going BD, its a credible rumor. LOL..

They aren't stupid! Well, kinda, but they DO look at the numbers and are seeing the trend. Eventually the tides will have to turn, we just don't know how long eventually is at this point.

Sony had the same stubborness about them with betamax, they'll come around soon enough, IMO.

Universal has been around Panasonic's factories. It was in the Insider's Thread. It was confirmed by one of the Insiders.

I do have to agree, there are alot of hypocrits (spelled right?) on here. But it IS a blu-ray site. We don't claim to be format neutral or unbiased.

Well duh. Unlike AVS that CLAIMS to be format neutral, we are open about our one-sidedness.
But seriously, any rumors/FUD about BD studios changing is usually shot down with statements by that company denying it. If not, than it seems to fade out anyways as just another rumor. As for HD-DVD exclusive studios changing, it is always a problem cause there are things saying they will and things saying they won't. The CEO says no way, the Insiders say they are already looking at BD factories.. and yet we all see that, despite our one-sidedness, BD is in the better position and is much less likely to loose any support.

I agree with that to a degree. I expect to find BD supporters here, which is why I myself am here. But its the people who bash one format over another for one thing..but then praise the other for the same thing lol.

you do make a point, but it always comes back to the dollar, BD is making more sales, more money and is a better technology all around, there is no reason for BD studio's to move to HD-DVD, that's be kinda silly, but is there a reason why the HD-DVD studio's shouldn't move to BD (besides $150 million)

Yup, I agree that BD is the better technology and will most likely win out. I personally liked having the format war, if only because it caused player prices on both sides to drop, whereas if there was only 1 over the other...i think prices would have still remained high for at least another year. Also, Look at all the awesome BOGO deals we are getting because of it!

I didn't participate in the latest BOGO I noticed that a week or so afterwards we dip, so I'm buying after the BOGO, Take that HD-DVD! seriously tho, the format war as you've said has pluses, but it has it's share of problems, today we're talking about Toshiba wanting co-existance, tomorrow we could be dealing with Warner going HD-DVD exclusive (not likely but possible) in September and October we had rumours floating around on here claiming that warner was going BD exclusive, but when that day came and went, nothing was heard from, it's upsetting to me and other to see a good thing for our format and a bad thing a few days later.

I haven't begun to talk about trolls and HD-DVD fans, these 2 groups I've found to argue against facts with number twisting, and spinning, some don't even understand what it is they are arguing for! I had one guy claim that no 50GB BD were made yet, things like this are what upset me during this format war, I took the time to research the 2 formats and I argue in this format war, why can't the opposing side also do thier research and argue thier side, and what it comes down to is they know technologically they are being short changed, but they get the players cheap, since they bought into the 'cheap player' mentality they don't want to lose thier movies, when BD wins. so they spread FUD.

Yes, well I remember that some rumors spread here were done by trolls having fun putting us on. Would you like to start a rumor?

From the contact I speak with who works in Universal's marketing department, she feels Universal with go dual format in early 2008, perhaps even in January.

She mentioned that when Paramount was given massive "incentives" to go HD-DVD exclusive for the 18 months, an offer much larger than what Uni received, Uni felt shafted to say the least. She also mentioned that there is very bad blood between Universal and Paramount, ever since in their eyes, Paramount stole DreamWorks from them. She feels there is no way that Universal and Paramount can work in unison as HD-DVD's only exclusive supporters.

Now with the rumors of Universal trying to lure DreamWorks/Spielberg back from Paramount, there is great animosity between the two companies.

I think we will see Universal producing Blu-ray discs quite soon, maybe in less than 90 days. A rumor I heard is that Universal's first Blu-ray release will be "American Gangster." We will see
